Dietary coordination is an important part of raising meat pigeons. Only when it can meet the nutritional needs of meat pigeons of different breeds, ages, uses, physiological stages and production levels, can the production performance of meat pigeons be brought into full play and better economic benefits or competition results can be obtained. For example, because young pigeons are growing very rapidly, they should be given diets rich in protein, energy, minerals and vitamins, while pigeons that are not brooding can use less protein feed. the amount of diet can also be reduced by about half. For example, Jingxiang pigeons should maintain their strong physique and abundant physical strength, so the proportion of beans, especially peas, in the diet should be higher than other pigeons.

Meat pigeon

Based on feeding standards

Up to now, the feeding standards of pigeons have not been published at home and abroad, and some of them are only some empirical formulations or typical dietary formulations. Therefore, the diet of pigeons can only be based on these formulations. Because the commonly used feed for meat pigeons is mainly corn beans, after the diet is prepared, according to the feed chemical composition analysis table, calculate whether the protein content is in the range of 12% to 14% or whether the nutrition ratio belongs to the medium nutrition ratio. As long as the protein content of the diet meets the requirements, other nutrients generally will not meet the requirements.

Control of crude fiber and volume

The crude fiber content of pigeon diet should not exceed 5%. Pigeons need a lot of nutrition, but they consume 30 ~ 60 grams of feed in a day, sometimes including the amount of feed fed to young pigeons, so the volume of the diet should not be too large. If the grain bean is used as the main body with the diet, these two points are easy to control. If the powder bait is composed of bran drum and cake, attention should be paid to the selection of raw materials.

Variety of feed

Do not use only one or two kinds of feed, otherwise it is difficult to make the ration have relatively high and comprehensive nutrition, to play the complementary role of various nutrients, and to have high digestibility, palatability and production efficiency.

According to the practical experience of pigeon farmers, the goal can be achieved with as little as three or four kinds of beans. Of course, in order to broaden the source of feed, reduce the use of peas and corn.

Good quality

The well-matched diet is palatable and easy to feed, free of harmful, toxic, mildew, polluting substances, pathogenic bacteria and parasite eggs.

Try to make use of locally produced low-priced feed and conditional pigeon farms, and you can also set up feed bases and produce some feed yourself. In this way, it can not only reduce the feed cost, ensure the reliable feed supply, but also make it safer in epidemic prevention.

Keep relatively stable

After the ration is prepared, even if it is proved by practice to be of high production efficiency, it should be properly adjusted or re-coordinated with the changes of season, feed supply, feed price, production level, etc., but it must not change too much and be relatively stable. When major changes are necessary, a transitional diet for short-term use can be arranged in advance to avoid causing digestive diseases in meat pigeons.
