Generally raised meat goats weigh only 15 kilograms at the age of 12 months, and the growth rate is very slow, the main reasons are: first, due to inbreeding, physical degradation; second, inattention to deworming, parasites consume a lot of sheep nutrition; third, there is no scientific formula feed, can not meet the nutritional needs of sheep growth. In order to improve the growth rate of sheep, the following technical measures must be taken:

Goat

First, do a good job in crossbreeding sheep.

Excellent sheep breeds with large size and strong meat production performance should be introduced to cross with local goats to breed a large number of hybrid goats for farmers to raise. The hybrid sheep has fast growth and strong disease resistance, which lays the foundation for the weight gain of sheep.

2. Get rid of parasites

Parasites not only consume a lot of nutrients of sheep, but also secrete toxins and destroy the function of the digestive system of sheep, so they should be dewormed. Levamisole, a highly effective insect repellent, was melted in warm water at a rate of 8 mg per kilogram of body weight, and 5% of the aqueous solution was prepared for intramuscular injection, which could dispel many kinds of nematodes and roundworms in sheep. At the same time, with dichlorophenol sulfate, 80 mg per kg body weight, add a little flour, 250 ml of water, fasting before feeding, or albendazole, 15 mg per kg body weight with water, can dispel Fasciola hepatica and tapeworm and ensure exuberant physiological function during the fattening period.

III. Scientific formula feed

Provide adequate nutrition for fattening sheep, and all kinds of nutrients should be basically balanced so that sheep can grow rapidly. Here are two practical feed formulations:

(1) 45% corn meal, 20% rice bran, 10% bean cake, 15% rapeseed meal and 10% wheat bran, together with hay, allow them to eat freely.

(2) 50% corn meal, 15% bean cake, 20% wheat bran, 15% rice bran, cooperate with hay and allow it to eat freely.

The above two kinds of compound feed can be fed either way, which can be fed on the basis of green, hay, sweet potato rattan leaves and corn straw. The young goats at the age of 3 months after weaning weigh about 8 kilograms. Under the condition that fine hay meets the demand, the above formula feed can be fed 150 grams per day. With the increase of age, the daily feed can be increased to 200 grams. In order to supplement the deficiency of protein, urea can be added to the concentrate, which can be fed 3 grams per day at the beginning, and then it can be increased to 5 grams per day. It takes 5 days for sheep to adapt to the transitional stage when feeding urea, and pay attention to not drinking water 1 hour after feeding. The rapeseed cake should be cooked thoroughly before feeding to eliminate the toxic ingredients contained in the rapeseed cake. Add 4 grams of salt, 4 grams of bone meal or shell powder, and 8 grams of sodium sulfate. If you feed silage, add 5 grams of baking soda to the silage. According to this new technique, the daily gain of hybrid goats can reach 100g to 150g, and the body weight can reach 18kg to 25kg at the age of 6 months, which is more than double the growth rate compared with the traditional extensive feeding method.

If you feed suckling goats, the above formula feed can be fed 300 grams 350 grams per day, urea can be added to 8 grams of 10 grams, salt can be added to 8 grams of 10 grams. This kind of feeding method secretes a lot of breast milk. Lambs practice eating grass and fodder from the age of 20, and their daily gain can reach more than 100 grams.

The above formula feed is designed for captive sheep, and the amount of concentrate feed can be reduced by 50% for goats grazing in the wild during the grass peak season. But no matter how plentiful the grass is, night feeding is still necessary. Only in this way can the rapid growth of fattening sheep be ensured.
