In the breeding of mutton sheep, especially in house feeding at present, salt is an indispensable ingredient in feed. an appropriate amount of salt can ensure normal water and salt metabolism in mutton sheep, thus increasing appetite and digestive activity. however, if it passes, it will cause salt poisoning in mutton sheep, so we should beware of salt poisoning in mutton sheep breeding. the symptoms and treatment of salt poisoning in mutton sheep are introduced as follows:

The toxic dose of salt per kilogram of body weight of mutton sheep is 3 to 6 grams, and the lethal dose of salt of adult mutton sheep is 125 grams to 250 grams. The occurrence of salt poisoning or death in mutton sheep depends not only on the intake of salt, but also on whether they drink enough water. If you eat too much salt, but drink a lot of water at the same time, you may not be poisoned. On the contrary, if you eat too much salt and lack drinking water, you will have an increased chance of poisoning. The mutton sheep were fed with 2% salt feed, and the drinking water of the mutton sheep was restricted, and poisoning occurred a few days later, but the meat sheep were fed with a feed containing 13% salt without restricting drinking water, and no poisoning occurred.

Symptoms: the main symptoms of salt poisoning in mutton sheep are shortness of breath, conjunctival redness and congestion, thirst, increased appetite for drinking, blurred vision or blindness, muscle tremors and spasms, and finally fall to the ground, irregular rowing of the limbs, coma and death. Postmortem examination of meninges and brain congestion and hemorrhage, gastrointestinal mucosa flushing, bleeding or edema.

In the early stage of treatment and diagnosis, 500 ml of normal saline containing 5% glucose can be injected intravenously; 150 ml of castor oil can be taken internally, and it is difficult to treat severe cases.

In the daily diet of mutton sheep, we must pay attention to the application of salt, appropriate amount, feeding science, so as to avoid salt poisoning, if there is salt poisoning and no timely treatment, then death will occur, resulting in economic losses of the farm.
