My sugar orange six-year-old tree, put the second autumn shoot this year, up to now is still growing new leaves have 40 centimeters long, short also has more than 20 centimeters, the old is not very mature. What measures should be taken to ensure the quality of flowering next year?

Citrus trees generally enter flower bud differentiation from the end of October to the beginning of November, that is, to stop the vegetative growth of shoot and long leaves and transform to the reproductive growth of flower bud differentiation. If the vegetative growth continues in the above period, even if the later temperature is still suitable for the growth of late autumn shoots, late autumn shoots can also delay ripening. However, due to the influence on the nutrient accumulation of carbohydrates in the tree and the short time of flower bud differentiation, the flower formation or flower quality was finally affected.

Therefore, it is recommended that you take the following measures immediately. Carry out several pairs of leaves in the lower part of the growing autumn shoots that are basically ripe by the end of the year; ring-cut the vigorous plants; spray paclobutrazol of 500~750ppm on the trees with medium potential, and add 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, spray once every 15 days, twice in a row (the ring-cut plants can be sprayed with potassium dihydrogen phosphate alone) If the soil water content is high, tree plate shoveling grass and shallow turning soil can be carried out after the above measures to speed up the volatilization of soil water.

Through the above measures, on the one hand, promote the full maturity of the untruncated autumn shoots as soon as possible in early November, on the other hand, inhibit the root activity to control the emergence of new shoots. Make the plant enter into flower bud differentiation as soon as possible; after taking the above measures, the plant should still be checked frequently, and once a new bud is found, manual peeling should be taken. Lest the new buds waste the nutrients of the tree.
