It is a consensus that the cure rate of pigs suffering from encephalitis is low, even if it is not acute death, the follow-up cure rate is also very low. The clinical manifestations of encephalitis are sudden fall to the ground, unable to stand; uncoordinated movements of the limbs; falling to the ground to do paddling; corner bow dilation; head tilted to one side, unable to put it straight.

The common clinical pathogens of encephalitis include pseudorabies, Streptococcus encephalitis, Haemophilus parasuis, Escherichia coli, Japanese encephalitis and so on.

At present, the pigs with encephalitis symptoms found in most pig farms are basically ready to be eliminated, and the treatment is no more than intramuscular injection of heat-clearing and detoxifying traditional Chinese medicine injection (Houttuynia cordata injection, Banlangen injection, etc.) and antibiotics (cephalosporin, amoxicillin, sulfadiazine sodium, etc.). Before, I thought it was necessary to do so, and there was nothing I could do about it with a very low cure rate, until an old veterinarian recommended me a drug. Now the cure rate of encephalitis in my pig farm has improved several grades, what is this medicine?

Mannitol! (mannitol is usually given by intravenous drip, and the dosage is usually 0.5g 1Kg body weight. 20% mannitol is sold in the world, so 1kg body weight needs 2.5ml mannitol injection.)

Mannitol is a good diuretic and has an excellent effect on reducing intracranial pressure and intraocular pressure. Therefore, it is a commonly used drug for clinical rescue of brain diseases, with the characteristics of fast blood pressure reduction and accurate curative effect.

After entering the pig body, mannitol can increase the osmotic pressure of pig plasma and dehydrate the tissue, thus reducing the intracranial pressure and intraocular pressure. after filtering from the glomerulus, the tissue dehydration is not easy to be reabsorbed by the glomerulus, which increases the osmotic pressure of urine and brings out a large amount of water to achieve the effect of dehydration.

Clinical treatment of encephalitis symptoms of pigs, need to first symptomatic treatment, intravenous injection of mannitol or furosemide to reduce intracranial pressure and intraocular pressure, and then judge the disease leading to the original treatment. If it is encephalitis caused by pseudorabies dogs, vaccine immunity should be considered; Streptococcus can choose conventional drugs such as sulfonamide and amoxicillin; Haemophilus parasuis and Escherichia coli can consider cephalosporin, tilmicosin and other drugs that have been used for a shorter time due to serious drug resistance.
