During the hibernation of turtles, if the breeding management is not careful, it is easy to make the turtles die. For turtles living in colder areas, the ideal hibernation temperature should be 7 ℃ ~ 10 ℃. If the tortoise is kept at too low temperature for a long time, the tortoise will die. The best time for turtles to hibernate is 3 to 4 months. Turtles in the wild generally stay in hibernation for a longer time, but under artificial breeding conditions, properly shortening the time of hibernation will not adversely affect their health.

You can check the hibernation of a tortoise up to once a month. Only under very special circumstances can the breeder disturb a hibernating turtle. Too many interruptions are likely to increase the death rate of hibernating turtles.

After the breeders have chosen the containers for tortoise hibernation, they cannot simply place them in the external temperature until the tortoise ends its hibernation. Any kind of hibernating tortoise, exposed to less than 3 ℃ for a long time, will have a very high mortality rate. Before letting the tortoise hibernate, you should also make sure that the body of the tortoise is completely "empty" to avoid rectal infarction caused by a drop in temperature. Method: a week before the turtle hibernates, let the turtle take a warm bath for 30 minutes every day, which is the key to "cleaning" the turtle's gastrointestinal system. Pay attention to whether the turtles have hibernating habits. If you indiscriminately let those turtles who do not have the habit of hibernation hibernate, it will also cause the death of the tortoise.

Problems that turtles should pay attention to after hibernation: when the hibernation period is coming to an end, breeders can "wake up" the hibernating turtles. But you can't simply move the hibernating tortoise to a warm place, which can cause sudden death or other diseases. Therefore, the environment temperature of the hibernating tortoise should be gradually increased, so that it has a slow process of adaptation. This process should last about a week.

The turtles who have just woke up from hibernation are not interested in food and refuse to eat. Breeders should first feed a small but refined feed, mix appropriate amounts of nutritional drugs and antibiotics into the feed, and gradually increase the amount of feed. After a period of time, feed is fed according to the maximum amount of food for the tortoise, so that the physique of the tortoise can be restored as soon as possible.

During hibernation, the metabolism of turtles slows down, digestion stops, circulation slows down, immunity and other self-protective functions weaken or stop, and diseases break in. Turtle owners are advised not to hibernate sick or weak turtles. For newly hatched turtles, it is best not to let them hibernate in the first two years. For young turtles that cannot hibernate, they can be raised at a lower temperature in winter. if tortoises are raised, ordinary desk lamps can be equipped with ordinary incandescent bulbs or reptile bulbs (including ultraviolet rays), reptile special electric blankets, heating stones, or put electric heaters in the room to heat up. But be careful not to let the air get too dry. If you keep a water turtle, you can put a thermostat in the water to make it safe through the winter.
