There are many varieties of violets in horticulture, which can be divided into high, medium and short according to height, winter violets, spring violets and summer violets according to flowering period, and petal and double according to petals. The main cultivated varieties are white "Ida", yellowish "Carmen", red "Francesco", purple "Abera" and lavender red "Incana". Let's have a look!

Classify by height

Violet can be divided into three types: tall, medium and short according to plant height, all types can be potted, medium dwarf species can be used in flower beds, general plant height is 30cm to 40cm, cut flowers are planted with height, and general plant height is 60cm to 90cm.

Classified by florescence

According to the flowering period, violets can be divided into winter violets, spring violets and summer violets. Winter violets are sown in autumn and winter, blossom in winter and spring, summer violets are sown in spring and bloom in summer. Autumn violets are obtained by crossing winter violets with summer violets and can be cultivated annually or biennially.

Classify by flower shape

Violet can be divided into two strains: single flower and double flower according to flower shape. in double strain, both single flower and double flower have high ornamental value after sowing, but both pistils and stamens have petalized and can not bear seeds. About 80% of good seeds should have double flowers. A single flower should be cultivated in a place with plenty of light and good ventilation to facilitate seed ripening.
