Spinach is an annual herb of Chenopodiaceae spinach, originated in Iran, and is now widely cultivated in various parts of our country. Because the seed epidermis of spinach is attached to a layer of colloid, it is slow and irregular to sow seedlings according to conventional sowing. Therefore, spinach seeds need to be soaked before sowing. Let's take a look at how to deal with spinach seeds.

Solution preparation

The hydrogen peroxide solution was mixed with water according to the ratio of 1 ∶ 4 to water, and the aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide of 20-25% was prepared by full stirring.

Seed soaking time

Put the prepared aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide in a container and pour it into the seeds while stirring with wooden sticks so that the seeds can absorb water evenly. When the temperature is lower than 20 ℃, the soaking time is 100-120 minutes. When the temperature is higher than 20 ℃ and lower than 30 ℃, the soaking time is 60-90 minutes. When the temperature is higher than 30 ℃, the soaking time is 30-50 minutes.

Seed germination

After soaking the seeds, remove the seeds from the aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide, then rinse with clean water for 3 times (filtering water while rinsing). After filtering the water, cover the germination with a wet cloth. If the seeds are moderately mature and full, more than 85% of the seeds germinate in 5-6 days, and the seedlings can be completed 2-3 days after sowing, 6-8 days earlier than conventional sowing.

Matters needing attention

The main results are as follows: 1. Before soaking the seeds with hydrogen peroxide solution, the spinach seeds left or purchased should be sunny for 4 hours and 6 hours, and the sundries and unfull seeds should be removed.

2. The seeds that have been soaked and germinated should be sterilized with chlorothalonil water solution.

3. The seeds after soaking and accelerating germination and sterilization should be sowed in time, and the soil in the field (greenhouse) should be moist.

4. After sowing, cover the soil by 1 cm 1.5 cm and press it to make the soil coincide with the seeds, then cover it with a straw curtain, and open the straw curtain when 10-15% of the seedlings are unearthed.
