On the evening of the 5th, CNPC signed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) procurement contract with the Malaysian state company for a period of six years, with an annual gas supply of about 2.25 million tons, which will help stabilize domestic natural gas demand.

CNPC pointed out that it is actively negotiating to import shale gas from the United States, and delivery is expected to begin in 107.

CNPC signed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) procurement contract with a subsidiary of Malaysia's National Oil and Gas Company (Petronas) on the evening of the 5th.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Tan Sri Dato' Shamsul, general manager of Malaysia National Oil and Gas Company, Luo Youzhong, representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office of the Republic of China in Malaysia, and Lin Shengzhong, chairman of CNPC, and signed by Chen Jieyuan, CEO of CNPC, and Malaysia representatives in Kuala Lumpur.

The contract will last for six years from April this year to the end of March 109, with an annual gas supply of about 2.25 million tons.

CNPC said that Malaysia is now the second largest LNG exporter in the world and an important partner in the stable supply of natural gas to CNPC. The two sides have implemented a 20-year procurement contract since 1984, and the cooperative relationship has been 19 years so far.

In addition, in order to increase the import volume of LNG and enhance the reliability of sufficient and stable supply of LNG in China, CNPC has actively expanded various LNG import and storage facilities, including the ongoing construction of three additional storage tanks in Taichung LNG Plant, deep dredging of waterways in Yong'an LNG Plant and improvement of reliable ship unloading capacity.
