Asparagus is one of the top ten famous dishes in the world, also known as asparagus and asparagus (different from seaweed-deep-sea vegetables, also known as asparagus). Enjoy the laudatory name of "king of vegetables" in the international market, asparagus is rich in a variety of amino acids, proteins and vitamins, and its content is higher than that of ordinary fruits and vegetables. So when is the best time for asparagus?

Planting time of asparagus

Asparagus is usually planted in spring.

Asparagus sprouts new stems 2 or more times a year. The tender stem sprouted in spring is generally used for food, and its growth depends on the nutrient supply stored in the root in the previous year. The growth of tender stems and the formation of yield were positively correlated with the number of stems and the luxuriant degree of branches and leaves in the previous year. With the increase of plant age, the number of tender stems and yield increased year by year. With the continuous branching of the rhizome, the development of the plant cluster tended to decline, the aboveground stem became smaller and smaller, and the yield and quality of the tender stem gradually decreased. Generally, 4-10 years after planting is the peak period.

If you want to grow asparagus in the open air, raise seedlings in April and May and plant them in July and August. If asparagus is planted in the greenhouse, seedlings can also be raised in August and September and planted in October.

Planting conditions of asparagus

Asparagus can adapt to a wide range of temperature, the suitable temperature for seed germination is 25-30 degrees, the optimum temperature for vegetative growth is 20-30 degrees, the growth is slow below 15 degrees, the occurrence of tender stems is less, the bark of tender stems above 30 degrees is easy to fibrosis, and the tip of bamboo shoots is easy to spread. Poor quality; stop growing above 35 degrees.

In addition, asparagus is a sunny plant, which requires strong light, sufficient sunshine, luxuriant branches and leaves, and photosynthesis is closely related to temperature. Of course, the high temperature season is disadvantageous to the growth of asparagus, and long-term overcast and rain also have an effect on the yield of asparagus.

There are asparagus is the role of deep roots, and young stems need to cultivate soil to shade, should choose deep soil layer, loose and fertile, rich in organic matter sandy loam. PH5.8-6.5is the best.

Common problems in asparagus cultivation

1. Discoloration of white asparagus: as a raw material for canned processing, white asparagus is softened and grown by cultivating soil before harvest. Generally, asparagus harvested by cultivating soil requires that the asparagus is white or milky yellow. If it is green or the tip of the asparagus is green-red, it will change color. The reasons for discoloration are as follows: one is that the soil is too sticky or too sandy, the former is easy to crack, and the pores of the latter are large, resulting in cracks and light discoloration of asparagus; second, the soil temperature is high and dry, and the soil is easy to dry and crack or too loose, and the soil pores are too large and transparent. In order to prevent the discoloration of asparagus, sandy loam should be selected in cultivation, so that the soil particles are uniform, the moisture is moderate, and the soil is loose and tight. If the ground temperature is too high, it should be properly watered to increase soil moisture and reduce cracking. If there are conditions, black film can be covered instead of soil for softening cultivation, the effect is better.

2. Deformed asparagus: when harvested, the tender stem of asparagus is bent, the thickness is uneven, and the cross section is not round or flat. The main reason is that the application of unmature organic fertilizer or excessive fertilization at one time burns the growth point of the tender stem, or inhibits the normal development of the growth point; secondly, the soil viscosity is high, the soil is many, and the soil is loose and tight, which hinders the normal growth of the tender stem; thirdly, when the tender stem is born, it suffers from insect pests and so on. Control measures: fine cultivated land, so that the soil loose, no stones, soil blocks, in addition, the soil should be loose and tight, and pay attention to the control of underground pests.

3. Hollow bamboo shoots: hollow bamboo shoots with hollow tissue in the middle of tender stems. Due to the imbalance of nutrition, lack of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, excessive topdressing of nitrogen fertilizer during bamboo shoot picking period, the overgrowth of plants was caused. Control methods: pay attention to rational fertilization during the bamboo shoot harvest period, pay special attention to topdressing phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and do not apply nitrogen fertilizer alone to ensure the sturdy growth of the aboveground part.

4. tender stem cracking: during the shooting period, the tender stem longitudinally split into brown deep mouth, and caused rot. The reason is that the soil is short of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and the plant grows excessively, followed by the long drought and flood, which causes the tender stem to expand too fast and lead to cracking. Prevention and control measures: pay attention to the application of phosphorus and potash fertilizer, watering should be uniform, avoid dry and wet.

5. Peculiar smell: asparagus tastes light, bitterness is too heavy or has other peculiar smell, which will affect the value of goods. The cause is caused by pesticide pollution and watering municipal wastewater, or by toxic waste gas and industrial waste pollution. For this reason, do not use inorganic fertilizers when cultivating soil; before and after soil cultivation or during the period of bamboo shoot picking, the use of pesticides, garbage fertilizer and watering industrial wastewater should be strictly prohibited.
