How to plant cucumber seeds? Cucumber usually uses sexual reproduction (seed reproduction) when planting, but because the juice of cucumber contains some plant alkaloids and organic acids that inhibit growth, they can inhibit seed germination, if they are treated before sowing, even if the cucumber is sown, it is difficult to germinate. The following editor will introduce how to plant cucumber seeds.

Select cucumber seeds

Growers can rest assured to choose the varieties of cucumber seeds planted in previous years, because the planting and harvest of this variety are already clear, but for seed varieties that have not been tried, it is best to plant them in a small area. if the sprouting effect and growth condition are satisfactory, sow seeds on a large scale. In addition, before sowing, it is best to test the germination rate and germination potential of the purchased seeds. Cucumber seeds with strong germination potential emerge quickly and neatly, and only when the germination rate reaches more than 90% can they meet the requirements of planting and ensure the effect of harvest.

Of course, different varieties of cucumber seeds adapt to different cultivation conditions, some are suitable for open field cultivation, some are suitable for greenhouse cultivation, friends in the purchase of cucumber seeds should be specific analysis of the specific situation, choose suitable varieties.

Cucumber seed treatment

According to the investigation of a variety of cucumber infectious diseases, seed-borne diseases accounted for about 34.6%, mainly anthracnose, scab, black spot, bacterial angular spot and so on, so seeds should be disinfected before sowing. There are many disinfection methods, among which thermal sterilization is better, which has the advantages of simple operation, wide sterilization spectrum, seed safety, environmental protection, cost saving and so on.

1. Pre-soak in warm water: first soak the cucumber seeds in room temperature water for 4 hours, remove them and soak them in 55 ℃ hot water, sterilize and disinfect them for 15 minutes, then fish them out and put them into cold water to cool down, then transfer them to sprouting or sowing. Note is to strictly comply with the technical requirements of the water temperature and time.

2. Seed disinfection: seed disinfection is the most economical and effective method to control a variety of infectious diseases and insect pests, and it is an indispensable measure to prevent diseases and insect pests at seedling stage. Because the amount of drug used in seed treatment is very small, and it takes a long time to harvest cucumber, there is almost no problem of pesticide residues, so it is also an important measure to promote the use of pollution-free vegetables.

① seed coating: seed coating agents contain fungicides, pesticides that kill seed-borne diseases and underground pests, as well as trace element fertilizers and plant growth regulators that can promote seed germination and cucumber growth. Now some commercial seeds have been coated before leaving the factory, and the use of such seeds does not need to be sterilized.

Soaking seeds in ② warm soup: soaking seeds in warm soup is a method to kill germs on the surface of seeds by making use of the different tolerance of dry seeds and bacteria to high temperature. Put the dried seeds into 55 ℃ 60 ℃ warm water, stir and add hot water to keep the water temperature at 55 ℃ for 10 minutes. The temperature dropped to 28 ℃ and then soaked the seeds for 6 hours. After washing, the seeds were accelerated to sprout.

Soaking seeds with ③ agents: first, soaking seeds with 72.2% Pulike water agent or 25% metalaxyl wettable powder for 20 minutes can control cucumber seedling fungal diseases. Second, 50% Fumishuang wettable powder 500 times solution soaking seeds for 20 minutes can control anthracnose and stem blight. Third, disinfection with 2.5% suspension seed coating agent can not only kill the pathogenic fungi latent in the seed coat, but also infiltrate into the seeds, kill the pathogenic fungi that invade the seeds, and effectively control melon seedling disease, blight and other diseases. Fourth, in order to prevent the seeds from causing viral diseases, the seeds can be soaked in 10% trisodium phosphate solution for 20 minutes. Fifth, soaking seeds in 1 million units of agricultural streptomycin 500x diluent for 2 hours can control bacterial diseases.

No matter what kind of agent is used to soak the seeds, the seeds should be washed with clean water after soaking to prevent the occurrence of drug damage.

Soaking seeds and accelerating germination

1. Seed soaking: after soaking the seeds in warm soup or medicament, the seeds are soaked at 25 ℃ 30 min for 6 hours, so that the seeds absorb 50% of its dry weight of water, and then scrub the mucus on the seed coat by hand to remove germination inhibitory substances, bleach away impurities and shrunken seeds, and rinse clean with clean water.

2. Seed germination: after seed soaking, the seeds are wrapped in clean wet gauze, wrapped with a wrenched wet towel and placed in a place of 25 Mel 30 ℃ to promote germination. Rinse 1 ℃ twice a day with lukewarm water, and continue to promote germination after washing. The germinated seeds can be germinated in 20 hours at the temperature of 25 ℃. The germinated seeds can be picked out in batches or placed under the condition of 5 ℃, and sowed together.
