Speaking of orchids, it gives most people the impression that they are expensive and difficult to raise, and there is a saying that they look at flowers in the first year, pots in the second year, and pots in the third year. This is because they do not understand the habits of orchids when planting orchids and are caused by poor management. Orchids originally grow in mountains and valleys, ventilated and cool, and the dense branches and leaves on the mountains can shield orchids from the scorching sun, and provide sufficient nutrition for orchids after defoliation. Over the years, orchids have gradually formed the habit of "half yin and half yang, avoid dampness and like the wind". The roots of orchids are fleshy roots, which rely on the symbiosis of fleshy roots and bacteria to obtain nutrients, and leaves can also obtain water and nutrients from the air. only by understanding these basic characteristics of orchids can we cultivate orchids and easily make orchids flourish.

First, orchids like loose plants and are afraid of hardening.

Orchids originally grew in places rich in humus and fluffy in the mountains, where the soil is very loose, grab a hand, squeeze into a ball, palms spread out, the mud immediately spread out, breathable, easy for the fleshy roots of orchids to breathe. The kind of soil with poor structure and easy to harden after watering makes orchids stuffy and absolutely unable to raise orchids well, so when we cultivate orchids, we must break through the concept of soil and not plant them directly with soil. it is necessary to choose granular plants with good permeability and stable properties, which are highly cohesive, will not solidify, drain quickly, and have good permeability and stable nature. only the orchid plants with this characteristic accord with the growth habits of orchids. It can be said that only if you choose the right orchid plant material to raise the orchid, it can be said that half of the success is achieved. Most people are stuck on this ridge and cannot enter the door. The commonly used orchid plant materials can be roughly divided into two categories: soft plant material and hard plant material. It is also what we often call organic and inorganic plant materials. The commonly used soft plant materials are: pine chestnut king, snake wood, coconut shell, charcoal, chestnut bark, pine bark, willow bark and so on. Hard plant materials are: gold stone, ceramsite, brick grain, tile grain, wind fossil, foam block and so on. In the process of using, we can also mix soft and hard plants according to a certain proportion. at present, the most commonly used in the market is pine chestnut king and gold plant stone at 1:1, with remarkable results, convenient management, simple operation and few diseases and insect pests. orchids are not easy to die, safe and efficient, easy to cultivate orchid, let orchids flourish.

Second, orchids like slightly sour but afraid of saline-alkali.

Orchids are perennial slightly acidic flowers and like to grow in a slightly acidic environment with a PH value of 5-7, so we should not use alkaline orchid plants and alkaline water when choosing orchid plants and watering. Slightly acidic plants and water should be selected. If alkaline water can be added with appropriate amount of edible vinegar (or adjusted with oxalic acid or citric acid) to make it slightly acidic, it can be used for watering orchids. If orchids are watered with alkaline water for a long time, orchids can never grow well, because most bacteria like to grow in a slightly acidic environment, and our orchid roots need to symbiosis with bacteria. Only when we understand this characteristic of orchids, can we cultivate orchids and make orchids bloom easily.

Third, orchids like to be wet and afraid of stagnant water.

As the old saying goes: "dry orchid and wet chrysanthemum", this "dry" and "wet" is relatively speaking, which means that when we cultivate orchids, the pot plant should be slightly dry, not stagnant water, keep the pot moist, not too dry. "dry" is the best growing environment for orchids, and it is also the key to watering the orchids. Watering too much water can easily lead to orchid roots can not breathe fresh air and rotten roots, water into the leaf center does not volatilize in time, easy to breed bacteria leading to rotten heart, too dry orchids are easy to empty roots or dehydration lead to poor growth, so scientific and reasonable watering orchids is also the key to the success or failure of orchids, we need to observe and experience with our heart.

Fourth, orchids like astigmatism and are afraid of the hot sun.

Orchids belong to semi-negative plants, also like the sun, suitable for about 10000 light intensity, temperature 15-25 ℃ environment growth, illuminance more than 30000 or temperature higher than 30 ℃ must be shaded, summer and early autumn before 7 o'clock in the morning sun, orchids but no harm, the need for shade after 7 o'clock; late autumn, winter and spring soft sunlight, can be allowed to shine throughout the day to carry out photosynthesis production, accumulation of nutrients.

Fifth, orchids like to be cool but afraid of frost and snow

In the cool mountains and valleys, orchids gradually developed the habit of liking the wind and cool. The best temperature for orchid growth is 15 ℃-25 ℃. In this cool environment, orchids can grow rapidly. When the temperature is below 15 ℃, orchids will gradually stop growing and turn into a "semi-dormant" state. When the temperature is higher than 30 ℃, orchids will gradually stop growing and enter a "semi-dormant" state. But we found that wild orchids can remain green and grow normally even in cold seasons with heavy snow or extremely high temperatures. This is because protected by nature's mild night dew, the land will heat up in winter and night dew will come in summer. But when planted in a pot, the environment changes and orchids lose the protection of ground temperature when the temperature drops below 0 ℃. Orchids will frostbite the roots of orchids and even cause the death of orchids, so when the temperature is below 0 ℃, orchids should be warmed up or moved indoors.

Sixth, orchids like ventilation and are afraid of smoke and dust.

Orchids in the mountains and valleys cool breeze, developed the habit of orchids like a ventilated environment. As the ancients said, "ventilation is the most important way to raise orchids." Orchids have fewer diseases in a well-ventilated environment, and most of the problems are caused by poor ventilation. In order to be ventilated, we need to be ventilated around the orchid place. if there are windows, we need to open the windows or install exhaust fans. Orchids should be placed overhead. If there is no orchid frame, they can only be laid flat on the ground, and the orchid basin must also have a foot, or fill the air with a few tiles so that the bottom hole can be ventilated. Do not let dust stick to the leaves when ventilating, because dust not only affects the ornamental, but also hinders the stomatal respiration and photosynthesis of the leaves, leading to orchid diseases. So every 7-10 days, we have to wash the dust from the orchids.

Seventh, orchids like light, fat and afraid of thick and turbid

As the old saying goes, "clear orchids, turbid jasmine." It means: for elegant and noble orchids, the water for watering orchids must be clean, fertilization must be light, and thick fertilizer must not be applied like jasmine flowers. If thick fertilizer is applied to orchids, the concentration of fertilizer in the basin will increase, and the phenomenon of "burning roots" will occur. That is, the original water in the orchid root is "reverse osmosis" in the basin, causing the orchid root to blacken and wither, and the orchid leaves will gradually wither to death. If chemical fertilizers need high dilution, and we should try not to use chemical fertilizers and organic fertilizers, because organic fertilizers are unhygienic and prone to diseases, we should choose efficient and safe slow-release fertilizers, which should be placed away from the roots of orchids. It is easy to cause fertilizer damage.

Eighth, the orchid happy people are afraid of leaving their mother.

Orchids in the mountains and valleys have developed the habit of gathering in groups, which alone does not mean that orchids cannot split. The ramets of orchids are conditional: or there are many orchid plants in the basin, the orchid roots are too dense, and there is no room for new seedlings to grow in the basin: or although there are only six or seven seedlings, there are two "bibcock" (there are new seedlings on both sides). After the split, there are more than 3 strong grasses, which can still maintain exuberant growth. Single-seedling orchids have poor ability to obtain nutrition, poor resistance to diseases, not easy to rejuvenate, not easy to survive, so we have to be careful when choosing orchids, try not to buy single-seedling orchids, and should choose orchids with more than 3 seedlings, which is conducive to our future cultivation and rejuvenation!

Ninth, orchids like nursing and are afraid of diseases and diseases.

Orchids like their owners to carry out scientific management according to their growth habits, including potted planting, daily watering, topdressing light fertilizer, flowering management, disease control and so on. Only when we cultivate and maintain them carefully in the process of re-spraying, can orchids grow healthily, not only with high seedling rate, but also with strong disease resistance, and can easily make orchids flourish, but orchid diseases and insect pests are common phenomena, so we need to find out the causes. "prescribe the right medicine to the case". For orchid diseases and insect pests, we should implement the policy of "prevention first", prevention is more important than treatment, do not wait for the occurrence of diseases and insect pests. To regularly spray insecticidal and germicidal drugs, in addition to spraying the positive and negative sides of orchid leaves, orchid cultivation places and their surrounding environment should also be taken into account, and efforts should be made to create an orchid culture environment free of germs and pests, so that we can easily cultivate orchid grass and let orchid leaves flourish.
