According to the report, sales of sports shoes in Taiwan grew by 24% last year, and the amount of sales increased by 27%, making it the category with the largest increase in retail sales last year.

Gong Wenying, a senior analyst at Jiefu Kai GfK, a market survey agency, said that the growth of sneakers is directly related to the growth of Taiwan's regular sports population.

According to the 2013 Sports City Survey recently released by the Sports Department, the population of regular exercise has increased from 30.4% in 2012 to 31.3% in 2013. More than 88% of regular exercise respondents said that regular exercise behavior has been going on for more than half a year. The habit of exercising on behalf of the Taiwan people is becoming more and more stable and has become a part of life.

In addition, Gong Wenying said that the growth of the sports shoes market and the holding of sports events, the diversified and functional demands of manufacturers' products, such as the introduction of multiple or bright colors, lightweight and breathable or easy to wear to keep up with the trend, and the spokesman effect also expands the consumer group of sports shoes.

According to the survey report of retail sales of GfK sports shoes, the largest growth of sports shoes market in 2013 is running shoes market, followed by basketball shoes.

Due to the holding of road running events from all walks of life, jogging training courses held by manufacturers from time to time, and services such as trial wear, rental and size measurement of running shoes, consumers' demand and awareness of running shoes have been greatly enhanced, driving the market of running shoes to grow by 41% last year.

Among them, the most growth is the entry-level running shoes, followed by the emphasis on lightweight and shock absorbers. In terms of gender analysis, women's running shoes are the main driving force driving this wave of growth.

Among other sports shoes, GfK pointed out that in addition to the substantial growth in sales, the average unit price of basketball shoes showed a growth trend for three consecutive years, with an average increase of about 5%. This is mainly due to the use of new technology materials, the rapid introduction of diversified styles and colors, and the benefits of co-naming and retro styles, which make consumers, especially men, willing to spend more money on basketball shoes.
