Hon Hai's FIH Mobile Limited turned a profit of $77.71 million, or 1.04 cents a share, last year from a loss of $316 million the year before.

In terms of gross profit margin, Fu Zhikang said that the gross loss rate rose from 0.01% in 2012 to 4.48% in 2013 last year, driven by increased capacity utilization and a more favorable revenue mix.

Fu Zhikang said that production automation facilities will continue to be introduced to further enhance the efficiency of existing flexible production lines and industrial engineering methods.

Looking at last year, Fu Zhikang said that last year 2013 was a challenging year. The macro environment has stabilized, with some customers still facing a decline in demand due to fierce competition in the mobile phone industry; some customers are facing policy uncertainty due to changes in leadership or mergers with other entities that have entered a continuous transition period.

Fu Zhikang pointed out that some the mainland of China brands gained market share last year by launching mid-and low-level smartphones that are more suitable for end-user needs. In terms of regional performance, emerging markets such as the mainland of China and Southeast Asia have become the main sources of growth for the global mobile phone industry.

Looking forward to this year, Fu Zhikang said that the improvement in operations shows that the business has returned to the right track, and will continue to develop new customers and new markets, improve efficiency and strengthen ODM partnership strategy.
