The fruit and seed of star anise tree can be used as seasoning, but also as medicine, is a kind of economic plant with high planting prospect, usually large-area afforestation adopts seed seedling propagation, in order to establish high production area and early fruit, can also use grafting seedling, and subplant propagation and other methods, below we will take a look at the propagation method of star anise tree!

Grafting seedling of Illicium verum

Branching method is a common method in star anise grafting, grafting survival rate is high, grafting first cut scion, scion length of 5 cm, with more than 2 leaf buds, and then use grafting knife in the scion terminal bud back 0.5 cm below the first bud point, down inclined to grow 2-2.5 cm smooth slope, deep to xylem, and then in the slope back end cut into 30 degrees small section. Cut the rootstock flat at about 15 cm from the ground, select a smooth side, cut off a little of the edge of the section with a grafting knife, and then cut vertically downward at the outer edge of the xylem of the secondary inclined side, the depth is slightly shorter than the cut surface of the scion, and then connect the cut surface of the scion to the cut of the rootstock, and then bind and fix it with a plastic bag from bottom to top, and seal the joint.

Propagation of Illicium verum

The plant division propagation of star anise tree is an efficient and rapid seedling breeding method, and the seedlings cultivated by this method survive quickly on the mountain afforestation, have many strong roots and high survival rate. Usually in early spring of each year, except for the strong trunk, all the bases of the other low trunks are peeled circularly, the width is 2-4 cm, and the cultivated soil is 20 cm higher than the girdling position, so that a large number of fibrous roots will grow at the girdling position. In winter of that year, the seedlings can be cut off at the base of the girdling position and transplanted with soil.

Seed Seedling of Illicium verum

1. Soil preparation and fertilization: star anise seedling land should be near the water source, surrounded by mountains and humid foot flat or gentle slope land. Select loam with deep soil layer and loose and fertile soil as seedling land. The former crops should be beans, sweet potatoes, taro vegetables and other crops. If it is newly reclaimed wasteland, the ground plants should be cut off and spread evenly on the ground. After drying, burn them, and then deeply cultivate 25-30 cm, break the soil blocks, level and fine. After finishing the land, a ridge with a width of 100 cm and a height of 20 cm shall be started, 2500 kg of soil miscellaneous fertilizer, 50-70 kg of calcium superphosphate and 300-500 kg of human excrement shall be applied to the ridge surface, and then turned into the ridge soil, and the ridge surface shall be leveled and fine for sowing.

2. Seed collection: In the star anise tree of 20-50 years old, select excellent plants as seed plants, which are required to grow rapidly, have lower branches, large crown, leafy branches, dark green leaves, no diseases and insect pests, bloom normally, autumn fruits account for 90%, fruits are plump and uniform, fruit stalks are long, mature early and consistent, and the difference in fruit size is small. When autumn fruits change from green to yellow, the number of fresh fruits per kilogram is less than 90, and 3%-5% of them have cracked and exposed seeds. The fruits collected will be spread in a cool and dry place in the city or exposed to the sun to make them crack and thresh themselves, and then the seeds will be screened and processed in time.

3. Seed treatment: star anise production area adopts on-site seed collection and on-site seedling raising. Dig yellow mud near seedling raising place, mix one part of seed with three parts of sieved yellow mud, sprinkle water to moisten the seed, so that the seed sticks to wet yellow soil. The other party is in the indoor wet place, stir once every 3-4 days, sprinkle water when it is dry, keep the loess moist. The humidity is best when the soil can be grasped by hand. After 2 months, the seed can germinate.

4. Timely sowing: star anise seed should be sown as they are picked. if that storage time is long, the seed oil is easy to volatilize, and the germination rate will decrease. after storage for 1-2 months, the germination rate is only 60%. usually, the seeds are sown from December to January or February of the next year. on the bed surface of the whole seedling field, the sowing furrows are opened according to the row spacing of 20 cm, the depth of the furrows is 5 cm, and then the seeds are sown according to the specification of the plant spacing of 4 cm in the furrows. the seeds are covered with turf or fine soil. finally, the bed surface is covered with straw or thatch 3-5 cm thick. To moisturize and keep warm.
