(Taiwan Business Daily News) Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Ju, at the invitation of the municipal government of Copenhagen, the green capital of Denmark, led a "2014 green capital delegation" to call on the Copenhagen municipal government and visit the Orestad new urban development plan on the afternoon of the 15th local time. The important process of being selected as the green capital of Europe in 2014 was introduced by Tina Bimadsen (Tina Saaby Madsen), the chief architect of Copenhagen. He also held talks and exchanges with Mayor Chen Ju on issues such as how to make Kaohsiung a green city.

Copenhagen is an ancient city, in the face of urban replanning, unlike other European cities to make zoning plans such as housing or industry, Copenhagen is more comprehensive planning from the perspective of residents' life. The overall development of the city also includes climate conditions, Rain Water collection, architectural design, bicycle space and other green transport into planning considerations. In addition, diversified urban development, encouraging the public to walk more and spending more time in outdoor activities are also three elements actively promoted by government departments. Statistics on the relevant data are conducted and reviewed every year.

Copenhagen was selected as the 2014 European Green Capital Award with the goal of green movement, clean water and the world's first carbon-neutral city in 2025, said Tina, chief architect of Copenhagen.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Ju said that Kaohsiung is the largest industrial city in Taiwan and the largest international commercial port in Taiwan. Like Copenhagen, Kaohsiung is a port city. Over the past decade or so, the municipal government has made considerable efforts to protect the environment and improve the quality of life of its citizens, such as a substantial increase in the reception rate of sewage sewers, 159 public bicycle rental stations at MRT stations and important scenic spots, 650 km of bicycle lanes, flood detention basins with ecological flood control, and so on. Kaohsiung has gradually transformed into an ecologically livable city.
