(Taiwan Business News) New Taipei City promotes the success of smart cities and attracts many international cities to observe. Following visits from Japan, Vietnam and the Netherlands, a five-member delegation led by Vice Governor Vladimir Novotny, including heads of economic and information technology departments, visited New Taipei City on April 17 with the assistance of the Digital Convergence Office of the Executive Yuan.
Visokina province is located in the central Czech Republic, about three times the size of New Taipei City, with a population of about 500,000 people. Governor Jiri Behounek, formerly an orthopedic surgeon, is concerned about the health and wellness of the population and has earned the reputation of the Czech Republic's Healthiest Region. In recent years, it has been committed to improving the quality of public information services, and won the Czech Republic Best Electronic Government Service Award in 2011 and 2012 for "Hospital Electronic Registration System" and "NFC Smartphone Mobile Navigation System", and won the Czech Republic Best Provincial Government Award in 2013.
Vice Governor Vladimir Novotny said during the interview that after understanding various cloud construction and information services promoted by the government of New Taipei City, he agreed with the thinking concept of "taking people's needs as the main body" in New Taipei City. In addition, New Taipei City not only improves administrative efficiency and constructs convenient services through science and technology, but also locks in emerging technology industries, such as cloud, biotechnology, green energy and logistics, for international investment attraction, making New Taipei City an important city for international procurement. These practices will become valuable references for Visokina Province to promote smart cities in the future.
Wu Zhaoming, Chairman of the New Taipei City Research and Development Committee responsible for promoting the New Taipei City Smart City Project, said that in the future, New Taipei City will make greater efforts to communicate with more international cities under the professional theme of "Smart City", use information technology to open up cooperation between cities, better fulfill the role of global city citizens, and enhance the international visibility of New Taipei City and Taiwan.
