(Taiwan Business Daily News) Cathay Pacific Shihua Bank has been actively engaged in various public welfare undertakings for 34 years, adhering to the concept of "take the society and use it in the society". The Dashu Project donates grants twice a year to help students from poor families or families suffering from major changes to go to school. it is an important charitable program that the Cathay Pacific Shihua Bank Foundation has been moving towards its second decade since its launch in 2004.
The grant donation ceremony for the second semester of the 102 academic year was held in the Cathay Pacific Financial Conference Hall on the afternoon of April 22. Taoyuan Primary School in Taoyuan County and Zhuofeng Primary School in Hualien County were invited to perform live, presided over by Wang Guohua, Chairman of Cathay Pacific Shihua Bank Foundation. Grants were awarded to five counties, including Ilan, Taoyuan, Changhua, Yunlin and Chiayi, and Lin Weizhi, deputy director of the Education Bureau of Taoyuan County, delivered a speech on behalf of the educational institutions. This semester, the Cathay Pacific World Bank Foundation donated a total of NT $5 million in grants, benefiting a total of 4334 students from 137 junior high and primary schools to pay tuition and fees for the semester. The grant donation of the Dashu Program has entered its 11th year, with a total donation of more than 150 million yuan, helping nearly 68000 people.
The foundation has been entrusted with the special account of "Liao Tiancai and Liao Qiugan Charitable Foundation". Since 2008, it has been donating grants. This semester, it has also donated nearly 370000 yuan to Taoyuan Primary School and Guishan Primary School students to collect agency fees or lunch fees. The grant was presented by Mr. Liao Hongda, the representative of the donation. Mr. Liao took over the stick of public welfare from his father and continued to give back to the countryside without changing his original intention, and the brothers and sisters also put in together. The spirit is admirable. This is the 12th time that the special account has donated financial aid, with a total donation of nearly NT $5.5 million, helping more than 2000 people.
