柴山大路改善 解决行车死角

(Taiwan Business Daily News) Chaishan Road is the main road from Xiziwan to Chaishan in Kaohsiung City, because it is located within the Chaishan Natural Park and is close to the buildings on the campus of National Sun Yat-sen University. it is an important road for local students to communicate with tourists and sports people. with the rise and fall of the mountain, some sections of the road are too steep, especially in front of Gushan Primary School (Chaishan Campus). Local people reported that they could not see the coming cars in front of them, and that the terrain had caused a dead corner and reduced the reaction time of passers-by. At present, the maintenance Department of the works Bureau has made improvements to this section of the road affecting the traffic line of sight.

The Kaohsiung City maintenance Office pointed out that the length of this section of the road is about 200 meters. In addition to the excessive changes in the slope of the road, the road surface is also old and cracked. In order to improve the driving safety of the public, the improvement of the road slope has been completed. Considering the sliding potential of the local hillside, avoiding large-scale roadbed filling and digging, and affecting the stability of the slope, the main purpose is to improve the driving line of sight, and appropriately adjust the elevation according to the current slope, reduce the elevation of the road surface at both ends of the section by about 40 centimeters, partially adjust the pavement at the low concave in the middle, lay an average of 10 to 20 centimeters thick asphalt concrete and re-draw the reflective marking, and the project was completed on March 31.

The maintenance Department further indicated that after the completion of the construction of the road section, it would not only improve the road slope to improve driving comfort, but also provide a good line of sight for vehicles travelling in both directions and increase the reaction time for passers-by to meet vehicles, so as to increase the safety of road driving.
