(Taiwan Business News) Women should learn to love themselves. This kind of love is not a collection of famous brands, but to protect themselves from both body and mind. For women, breast is the most in need of care, invasion of breast disease is very many, especially breast cancer, its incidence has exceeded cervical cancer, become the number one killer of women's health.

professor yu chih cheng, director of the armed forces general hospital, was invited by the hung kwan pei cultural foundation and taiwan daily to speak on "healthy breasts, happy life" on april 13.

Many people talk about breast cancer in Taiwan, and they always say that breast cancer is younger. In fact, breast cancer in Taiwan mostly occurs in middle-aged women, and this is the case from the early stage. However, early health education was not as widespread as it is now, and most people believe that breast cancer should be prevented and treated primarily among middle-aged and elderly women, given that the views on breast cancer written in textbooks are all from Western countries. However, Eastern breast cancer has many characteristics that are different from Western breast cancer, so prevention and treatment cannot be carried out completely according to what is written in textbooks.

Yu Chih-cheng, director of the Armed Services General Hospital, says that women are at high risk for breast cancer. In Taiwan, breast cancer is more likely to occur in young women, so women should learn to self-examine after menstruation, especially breast cancer is a small number of cancers that can be detected from the surface of the body, and women should pay more attention. Especially for women with a family history of breast cancer, about 10% of breast cancer patients in Taiwan have a family history. Therefore, as long as a woman in the family has breast cancer before menopause, especially a mother or sister, it is very likely that she will develop breast cancer at a young age. It is more necessary to pay attention to yourself. If you are over 30 years old, you should ask a specialist to check up once a year.

Prof. Yu Zhicheng, Director of the Armed Services General Hospital: Breast Health, Happy Life

People who have had breast cancer on one side are 1% more likely to have breast cancer on the other side every year, so it's best to screen the other breast every three months. According to research, about 1/3 of breast diseases are related to diet. Improper diet can cause breast disease, and will aggravate the disease, the occurrence of female breast cancer and obesity and high-calorie diet. There are high fat, high protein, high calories, low fiber bad eating habits, such as like to eat fried food, fast food and a variety of pastries, chocolate and other sweets, love to drink coffee, coarse grains, vegetables but insufficient intake will greatly increase the risk of breast disease. In addition, abuse of hormone-containing tonics can also have a negative impact on breast health. The sooner you discover the cure, the better.

Some cases of breast cancer at a young age are difficult to cure, not because of its malignancy, but because it is always delayed detection. In the United States, breast cancer is mostly detected at stage 1. In Taiwan, because the Department of Health provides free breast cancer screening every two years between the ages of 50 and 60, many young women ignore the importance of regular checkups. In addition, young patients may have breasts that expand easily due to menstruation, pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc., so that the average time of detection is already stage 2 or 3.

There are also doctors who often consider that young patients want to preserve the breast as much as possible, and dare not remove too much breast tissue, so that it is difficult to strike a balance between preserving female breast function and potential recurrence risk. These factors will affect the prognosis of breast cancer treatment.

This is what you should do to fight breast cancer.

To prevent breast cancer, monthly breast self-examination must not be less! According to clinical experience and numerous surveys conducted by the medical community at home and abroad, breast cancer is definitely detected earlier in women who have regular self-examination. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary.

Because breast cancer is most common in Taiwan before the age of 40, this year the Taiwan Breast Medical Association recommends that most women from the age of 35 should seek specialist examinations, including palpation and ultrasound or mammography. Thereafter, as with cervical smears, specialist examinations should be performed once a year; those with a family history of breast cancer at a young age should begin earlier than age 30.

The accuracy of ultrasound or mammography varies according to age and breast tissue. Clinical trials conducted by the Department of Health since 1995 have found that Taiwanese women have smaller breasts and denser breast tissue. Mammography may not necessarily be a good tool. On the contrary, ultrasound examination will be more accurate. If you are fatter and have larger breasts, because fat and tumor imaging under ultrasound are very similar, mammography should be used instead.

Almost every woman will have a breast fibrocyst, if confirmed as a breast cyst, will not become breast cancer tissue, unless the diagnosis is wrong, ultrasound report as a breast cyst, it is best to continue to follow up. If microcalcifications are detected, further examination or regular follow-up should be done, because there is a 20% probability that the calcification is breast cancer.

Professional women often have greater work pressure, their life rhythm is tense, late marriage and late childbearing are more common, many urban women are unwilling to give birth or postpone childbirth until after the age of 30 because of busy work and keeping figure, and the prevalence rate of breastfeeding is relatively low, and the maintenance time is short. These can affect women's breast health. Many studies have shown that marriage, fertility and timing have a lot to do with the occurrence of breast disease. Breast cancer is associated with celibacy, late marriage and short marriage. The risk of breast disease and breast cancer is significantly higher in women over the age of 35 with their first pregnancy. Moreover, some women take oral contraceptives for a long time in order to prevent pregnancy, which also increases the risk of breast hyperplasia and breast cancer. A woman's first full-term pregnancy can lead to a series of changes in the mammary epithelium that mature, making the epithelial cells more resistant to genetic mutations and producing large amounts of progesterone, which is useful for protecting breast health. Therefore, in order to stay away from breast diseases, marriage and childbirth should be arranged reasonably, late childbearing or lifelong infertility should not be encouraged, oral contraceptives should not be used or used less, and multiple abortions should be prevented. The baby should be breastfed as much as possible after birth. Studies have shown that breast-feeding women have a significantly lower risk of breast cancer than women who do not breast-feed, and the longer they breast-feed, the lower the risk of breast cancer.
