The disinfection of captive and overnight chicken houses is an important measure to prevent chicken diseases. Chicken farms should have the necessary disinfection facilities and establish a strict and feasible disinfection system to disinfect the floor, feces, dirt and utensils of the chicken sheds on a regular basis. to prevent the spread of chicken disease, let's take a look at the disinfection methods of chicken farms.

Types of disinfection in chicken farms

According to the occurrence of the epidemic and the feeding situation of chickens, the disinfection work can be divided into three types.

1. Prevention and disinfection: when there is no infectious disease in the chicken farm, disinfect the road surface in the chicken farm, the utensils in the chicken house, the means of transport and the chickens once or twice a month. If there are infectious diseases in this area, it is appropriate to increase the number of disinfection by 1 to 2 times to prevent the occurrence of infectious diseases.

Emergency disinfection: when an infectious disease occurs in a chicken house in the chicken farm, immediately block the chicken house, disinfect the articles in and out of the chicken house, chickens and personnel, etc., and disinfect the environment of the chicken coop once or twice a day, such as removing weeds outside the chicken house, spraying pesticides to eliminate harmful insects, dispelling wild birds near the chicken house, killing rodents infested in the chicken house, and so on. The neighboring chicken sheds should also increase the frequency of disinfection and block the infectious diseases in the infected chicken sheds to prevent the spread of infectious diseases to other chicken sheds or outside the farm.

3. Final disinfection: at the end of each batch of chickens, after the disposal of waste such as feces and padding materials, the utensils inside and outside the chicken house, material trough and drinking fountain are thoroughly disinfected to kill the pathogens that may remain as a result of raising the last batch of chickens, and to ensure that when the next batch of chickens enter, the chicken house is clean and pathogen-free.

Disinfection object of chicken farm

In order to prevent the occurrence of infectious diseases, all people and articles that are in direct or indirect contact with chickens should be disinfected. There are four types of disinfection objects.

1. The road leading to the chicken house in the farm area should be disinfected regularly, weeds near the chicken house should be eradicated, insecticides should be sprayed to eliminate harmful insects, wild birds moving near the chicken house should be dispersed, and rats and other wild animals infested in the chicken house should be killed.

2. Tools such as cage racks, troughs, drinking fountains, sacks and vehicles for carrying feed in the chicken house.

3. Rubbish such as feces, bedding and sick and dead chickens in the henhouse.

4. The staff who come and go to and from the area and enter the chicken platform.

Disinfection methods of chicken farm

According to the different objects of disinfection, different disinfection methods should be adopted, and the daily methods are mainly physical, chemical and biological methods.

1. Physical methods

① cleaning and scrubbing method: after cleaning out the garbage in the chicken house, wash the equipment, walls, ceilings and floor of the chicken house with water or high-pressure water gun, and wash off the dirt attached to it, this is a very important step, because there are often pathogenic bacteria in the dirt, and the effect of chemical disinfection will be affected if the dirt is not removed, because the disinfectant can only kill the pathogenic bacteria on the surface of the dirt. The disinfectant may not penetrate the inside of the dirt and kill the pathogens, which will become the source of infectious diseases under certain conditions in the future. Cleaning is the first step that must be taken before any disinfection method is used.

② sun exposure method: remove washed equipment and appliances to the sun and kill the pathogens attached to them by ultraviolet rays and drying in the sun.

③ dry heat disinfection: some appliances can be put in the oven dry heat disinfection.

④ boiling disinfection: some utensils can be boiled and sterilized in water.

⑤ high temperature, high pressure or flowing steam disinfection: use high heat, high pressure or flowing steam to kill pathogens on the walls of the chicken house and on the equipment and appliances.

⑥ flame spray method: use the high temperature produced by the flamethrower or blowtorch to kill the pathogens on the walls of the chicken house and metal equipment and appliances.

⑦ incineration disinfection: incineration of garbage or dead chickens to eliminate pathogens.

2. Chemical methods: disinfectants (drugs) are prepared into solutions of a certain concentration according to the requirements, and disinfection is carried out according to the following methods.

① washing or soaking disinfection method: wash or soak the articles that need to be disinfected to kill the pathogens on them. It should be noted that the disinfection effect will be reduced after repeated use of the disinfectant, and the disinfectant should be replaced in time.

② spray disinfection method: use sprayer to spray disinfection on roads, walls, equipment and appliances. The diameter of spray droplets should be larger, and the minimum diameter of fog droplets should be more than 200um.

③ aerosol disinfection method: this method is often used for disinfection of chickens in chicken sheds. The most suitable temperature for aerosol disinfection is 18: 22 ℃, the most suitable relative humidity is 70: 80%, and the most suitable droplet diameter is 50-100 microns. If the droplets are too small (5 microns, 10 microns), the droplets are easy to be sucked into the respiratory tract of chickens and produce adverse effects. During aerosol disinfection, the feathers on the back of the chicken can be slightly wet, and the dosage of disinfectant is 15-30 ml / m3.

④ fumigation disinfection method: this method is mainly used for disinfection of henhouse and breeding eggs with formaldehyde solution. For detailed operation, see formaldehyde solution part of disinfectant (medicine).

⑤ disinfection method: to put disinfectants (drugs) into sewage or water to kill pathogens in water.

3. Biological methods: gather the feces, cushions and other rubbish in the chicken house in one place, which is covered with a layer of mud or soil, in which the microorganisms ferment to produce heat and can kill the germs.
