There are many ways to raise chickens, such as raising insect chickens, raising chickens in orchards, raising chickens in woodland, and so on. We should choose the right type of chicken according to the local geographical conditions, and also choose the marketable species according to the local consumption characteristics. Here we briefly introduce the maggot chicken raising technology.

At the temperature of 20-30, the pupa developed for 5 days, from soft to hard, from beige, light brown and dark brown to black, and finally the adult fly broke its shell from the front of the pupa. The adult fly that just crawled out could not fly. An hour later, it spread its wings and began to eat and drink. Adult flies are active during the day and do not move at night. After 3 days of sexual maturity, males and females begin to mate and lay eggs. The peak period of spawning is at the age of 1-8 days, and the spawning ability is basically lost at 25 days of age. Fly eggs hatch into maggots from half a day to 1 day, and usually become pupae on the 5th day. A generation of flies, about 28 days. Temperature and feed nutrients of maggots have great influence on the growth and development of maggots. Generally, the room temperature is in the range of 20-30 ℃. The higher the temperature and nutrients are, the faster the maggots grow and develop and the larger the pupae become.

Breeding flies should be kept in the fly room. The size of the fly room can be built as needed, or it can be modified with old houses. Doors and windows are equipped with glass and screen windows to facilitate temperature regulation, and fans are installed on the walls to regulate the air. There should be heating equipment in the room to keep the winter temperature at 20: 23 ℃ and the relative humidity at 60% to 70%. Black cloth curtains are installed on the passageway to prevent flies from escaping. There are feeding racks in the room, which are divided into upper, middle and lower floors. The feeding rack is made of iron or wood. Fly cages made of nylon gauze net are placed on each shelf. The cages are 100cm long and 80cm high. Seed flies are kept in cages. 12000 flies are raised in each cage. Cloth sleeves are added to each cage for feeding, water and egg collection. 12000 adult flies are fed 20 grams of milk powder every day, and the feed is placed in a basin with gauze cushion to let adult flies stand on the gauze and suck. Feed and water are changed once a day. Put gauze in the water basin and wet wheat skin in the spawning cage for the flies to lay eggs. The eggs are collected once a day in the fly cage and sent to the maggot room to breed maggots. The number of eggs laid by the species fly is the most from 8 am to 3 pm every day, and the time for egg collection should be appropriate. Each batch of flies will be eliminated after 15 or 20 days, kill them with hot water or steam, dry and grind them for livestock and poultry feed, and then replace them with another batch. In the production of maggots, maggots pupate as a new fly species, there are two ways. One is to pupate naturally and wash the fly pupae with water, and the other is to take out the maggots to promote pupation when the maggots turn yellow for about 5 to 6 days.

Culture of fly maggots

For the breeding of fly maggots, a maggot pond with a height of 20 centimeters and an area of 1 square meters can be used for breeding maggots, or a plastic plate with a diameter of 50 centimeters can be used to breed maggots. 1.5 kilograms of fertile maggots need only 3 kilograms of wheat skin. It can be collected and used in 3 days. Maggot materials come from a wide range of sources, and the cost of different maggots is different, which can be reasonably selected. The nutritional content of wheat skin is higher, and the price is also slightly high. it is generally used to breed flies, and low-cost wine troughs and bean dregs can be used as materials for commercial maggots. If semi-dry and wet materials such as wine trough and bean dregs are used, they can be cultivated without adding water. The specific operation method of raising maggots is to pour the eggs and wheat skin into the plate, add maggot materials such as wine trough, bean dregs or wheat skin, and mix them slightly. Note that fly eggs should not be exposed on the surface of maggots, so as to avoid loss of water and loss of vitality. Human and animal feces need to kill bacteria and parasites before they can be used. the ratio of material to maggots, for example, chicken manure is 3.5-4.0 kg to produce 0.5 kg fresh maggots. No matter which raw material is used to raise maggots, the 1000 humidity of maggots should be controlled at 60%-65%.

Collection of fly maggots

The maggots are collected because they are afraid of light, and the maggots are constantly scratched on the surface of the drinking water in the maggot breeding pond, and the maggots will drill in and take away the surface faeces. This method is repeated many times, and finally a small amount of feces and maggots are left. After washing, the separated maggots can be directly used to feed livestock and poultry, and the maggots can be dried and stored at 200: 250 ℃ for 15: 20 minutes.

Selection of chicken breeds

Maggot chickens can directly choose local native chicken breeds, which generally have strong stress resistance and disease resistance. higher survival rate can be obtained no matter in shed or in orchards, fields or in captivity. Choose chicks according to market demand, choose chicks in black or other colors, which can ensure a better market and price.

Feeding method

After the maggots are removed from the maggot pupae, they can be directly fed to the chickens by rinsing with clean water, accounting for 30% of the total feed, and 40% if the maggots are scalded to death with boiling water. Because of the high protein content in fly maggots, other feeds should be based on energy feeds such as corn meal and wheat bran, and there is no need to add soybean meal and fishmeal protein feed.
