Chicken inclusion body hepatitis is an acute viral infectious disease, which is mainly characterized by a sudden increase in mortality in young chickens, severe anemia in diseased chickens, hepatomegaly, bleeding and necrosis. at present, there is no effective vaccine and special drugs for this disease. comprehensive epidemic prevention measures must be taken to prevent and control this disease. let's take a look!

Epidemic characteristics of inclusion body hepatitis in chickens

Inclusion body hepatitis is an infectious disease that mainly invades the liver caused by adenovirus. it mainly occurs in 3-15-week-old chickens, and broilers are the most susceptible. Pigeons, turkeys, ducks and other poultry can also be infected, characterized by muscle bleeding, liver swelling, bleeding and yellow necrotic foci, with strong virus resistance. It is mainly transmitted vertically through contaminated breeding eggs, and can also be transmitted horizontally by polluted environmental appliances.

Clinical symptoms of inclusion body hepatitis in chickens

When inclusion body hepatitis occurs in chickens, diseased chickens often die suddenly without any premonitory symptoms, and some diseased chickens show symptoms such as depression, diarrhea, drainage-like loose stool, anemia, jaundice, weakness and pale beard a few hours before death. After the onset of symptoms, he often dies within 24 hours. A sudden increase in mortality is usually an important sign of the disease. In other words, once the disease occurred in the chicken farm, the mortality rate increased sharply in the first 3-5 days, then stabilized at a certain level for 3-5 days, and then decreased to the pre-morbidity level within 3-5 days, that is, to stop dying. The course of the disease is about 2-3 weeks, and the mortality rate is 1%, 10%, and occasionally up to 40%.

Pathological changes of inclusion body hepatitis in chickens

Chickens who died of inclusion body hepatitis generally had plump muscles and developed well. The pathological changes of the liver are the most characteristic. In almost all cases, the liver is enlarged, brittle, yellow or brownish yellow, and there are many hemorrhagic spots, hemorrhagic spots and necrotic foci on the surface, and the liver is mottled. The kidney is swollen and pale due to urate deposition, there are bleeding spots under the pericardium, pericardial effusion, gray-white plaques in the epicardium, pale muscles, obvious bleeding in the chest and leg muscles, and yellowing of bone marrow. The blood is thin.

Prevention and treatment of inclusion body hepatitis in chickens

1. Beware of introducing sick chickens or chickens with virus, because the disease is transmitted by eggs. In addition, the disease can also be spread horizontally, so diseased chickens should be eliminated and sodium hypochlorite is often used for environmental disinfection.

2. to enhance the disease resistance of chickens, sick chickens can add vitamin K and trace elements such as iron, copper, cobalt, etc., and corresponding drugs can also be added to the feed to prevent other bacterial infections.

3. Infectious bursal disease virus and infectious anemia virus can increase the pathogenicity of this virus, so the immunity of these two diseases should be strengthened or these viruses should be eliminated from the environment.
