The red-bellied golden pheasant generally weighs about 750 grams, and the hens are sexually mature at one age. Every year, the golden pheasant begins to lay eggs in early April and stops production in July. Generally, each one lays about 20 eggs. After artificial breeding and multi-generation breeding, the highest number of eggs has reached 43, with a male-female ratio of 1 to 3. Generally, the male bird matures earlier than the female bird in January, and there are calls to each other when forming pairing activities. The estrous male birds constantly follow the female bird, even bouncing to make a strange show-off performance, with obvious mate selection.

The red-bellied golden pheasant has the ability to build an independent nest to lay eggs and raise chicks, and it can pick up the eggs laid on the same day during artificial breeding, so as to reduce the behavior of female birds to see eggs and hold nests.

The red-bellied golden pheasant can be hatched by the female red-bellied golden pheasant or hatched by the domestic chicken with strong nesting sex, generally choose those with strong physique, health, strong nesting and docile temperament, but the artificially raised red-bellied golden pheasant should be artificially hatched in order to improve the laying rate. The incubation period is 22 days, and the quality of the chicks will be affected in advance or delayed, so it is necessary to control the incubation conditions such as temperature and humidity, and strict hygiene and operation management.

The hatching temperature of red-bellied golden pheasant should be controlled at 38-38.50 C and the humidity should be 65-750 C for 24 days. The average body weight of hatchling is 20 grams, and the temperature of hatchling at 3 days old should be kept at 380C, 350C, 7d, 350C, 8d, 12d, 330C, and then decreased by one degree a day, and can be kept unheated at the age of 20g. Infrared lights and electric heating pipes can be used as heat sources in the greenhouse to ensure uniform and stable temperature in the shed, appropriate light intensity, and pecking fishers if it is too strong.
