Mandarin duck is the best large-scale lean meat duck in the world. It is bred by gene breeding between wild duck and Chinese healthy duck. It can be raised in dry condition, captivity, grazing, etc. It is a new breed of rare bird with both medicine and meat with grain saving, low consumption and high yield. It has the characteristics of high survival rate, fast growth, high temperature resistance, cold resistance and strong disease resistance. It is suitable for raising all over the country. Let's take a look at the breeding technology of mandarin duck together.

Growth Habits of Mandarin Duck

1. Water-loving: mandarin duck belongs to waterfowl. Food, water and mating can be carried out in water or on land. After investigation, the mating frequency of mandarin duck on land is higher than that in water, so the fertilization rate of mating on road is higher than that in water. Swimming and bathing in water can keep feathers clean, help body heat to dissipate, promote metabolism, and maintain good health, but do not like to stay in water for a long time.

2, gregarious: mandarin duck gregarious strong, as long as there are more suitable breeding places and conditions, they can live very well in terms of feeding and reproduction. Temperament docile, not afraid of people, tolerance coarse feeding, good foraging, can be small group stocking or large group captivity.

3. Cold tolerance: mandarin duck has strong adaptability to climate environment, cold tolerance and heat tolerance. As long as the feeding conditions are good, the low temperature in winter and spring does not affect the laying and weight gain. It has poor adaptability to hot climate and often rests and moults in summer and autumn.

4. Omnivorous: mandarin duck has underdeveloped sense of smell and taste, low requirements for feed and fragrance, can swallow coarse food balls and store them in the enlarged part of esophagus, high pressure in muscle stomach, often retain gravel, and can grind food well. Therefore, meat mandarin duck eats more at one time, and has a wide range of food habits, and can widely eat animal and plant feeds.

Performance of mandarin duck

1. Meat production: The average birth weight of mandarin duck is 40g, the weight of male mandarin duck raised at 11 weeks old is 3.64kg, the heaviest can reach 5.0kg, and the weight of adult female mandarin duck is 2.6kg. The ratio of meat to feed was 1∶2.80~3.00. The carcass percentage of adult male mandarin duck was 80%, female 84%, male 74%, female 75%. The average liver weight was more than 260 g.

2. Egg laying: Female mandarin duck begins to lay eggs after 6 months of breeding, and can lay 180~210 eggs per year, with an average egg weight of 65~85 grams and a maximum egg weight of 100 grams.

Feed formula for mandarin duck

1. Duckling: The feed formula for ducklings (0~6 weeks old) is 56% corn flour, 18% soybean cake, 10% bran, 10% rice bran, 2% bone meal, 2% fish meal, 1.5% yeast powder, 0.5% salt, plus a variety of vitamins and trace elements.

2. Medium duck: The feed formula of medium duck (7~10 weeks old) is corn flour 45%, soybean cake 10%, bran 15%, rice bran 15%, grass powder 9%, bone meal 2%, fish meal 1.5%, yeast powder 2%, salt 0.5%.

3. Adult ducks: The feed formula for adult ducks (11~24 weeks old) is 54% corn flour, 17% soybean cake, 18% bran, 3% grass meal, 3% fish meal, 3% bone meal, 1.5% yeast powder, 0.5% salt, plus a variety of vitamins and cloud elements.

Breeding Technology of Mandarin Duck

1, site selection: plain areas should choose high dry terrain, north to south, mountain, hilly areas should choose the south or southeast slope of the site, soil to sandy loam is good, to facilitate drainage after rain. The duck house should be ventilated, well lit and drained, able to avoid northwest wind, warm in winter and cool in summer.

2. Feeding method: the ratio of male to female of mandarin duck is 1:3~5. Mixed breeding, captive breeding and stocking can be carried out. It can be simplified according to the situation. There is a pool and a proper sports ground in the circle. There is an egg laying nest in the house.

3. Epidemic prevention and disease elimination: Before mandarin duck enters the house, the house and utensils shall be thoroughly disinfected once, and the walls, floors and utensils of mandarin duck house shall be thoroughly disinfected once with quicklime mixed into 15%~18% lime water to cut off germs. Antibiotics are added to the diet irregularly to prevent and kill diseases.

4. ducklings management: ducklings are sensitive to temperature within 1~3 days after hatching, like temperature and sleep well, keep the temperature not lower than 30℃, and gradually cool down after 3 days. 18~24 hours after hatching can be eaten, put the feed in a large shallow plate to allow it to eat ad libitum, feed 5 times a day, 4 times during the day, once at night. Drink 0.02% potassium permanganate water 16 hours after hatching for 1~2 days, and then drink water directly. 1~3 weeks old artificial supplementary light at night, light should be sufficient, 4 weeks old after the use of natural light. Pay attention to frequent replacement of bedding, 2~3 years after the age can remove bedding.

5. Management of medium ducks: medium ducks need to be raised in groups, with 100~300 in each group and 5~8 in density per square meter.

6. Adult duck management: adult ducks are selected to retain large and healthy male and female ducks, and the ratio of male to female is 1:3~5. Reserve breeding ducks should limit feeding, reduce feed nutrition content, properly control body weight, prevent excessive fat and affect fertility. The weight of breeding female duck is controlled at 2.3~2.8 kg, and that of male duck is 4~5 kg. Each day, the average food intake is 100~150, and 25~50 grams of green feed can be fed every day.
