Farmers in the process of duck breeding, generally use ground brooding, online brooding and three-dimensional cage brooding and other three ways of brooding, the following we briefly introduce these three ways.

Ground brooding

The ground brooding is to spread a 5cm thick soft cushion on the ground of the nursery, raise the ducklings directly on the cushion, and use underground (or above ground) heating pipes, coal stoves, nanny umbrellas or red line light bulbs to raise the temperature in the nursery. This method is simple and easy, with less investment, but the utilization rate of the house is low, and the ducks are in direct contact with feces, and the feathers are dirty and easy to be infected with diseases.

Online brooding

Online brooding means that the ducklings are reared on the net with metal mesh, plastic mesh or bamboo grille 30ft 80cm high from the ground in the brooding house, and the feces fall to the ground through the cracks in the mesh or grid. In this way, ducklings are not in contact with the ground, the chance of infection is reduced, and the utilization rate of houses is more than double that of ground feeding, which improves labor productivity and saves a lot of bedding materials. the disadvantage is that one-time investment is larger.

Three-dimensional cage brooding

Three-dimensional cage brooding refers to raising ducklings in special multi-layer metal cages or bamboo cages, which can make more effective use of houses and heat than flat brooding, which not only has the advantages of online brooding, but also can improve labor productivity. the disadvantage is that the investment is larger. At present, the production of commercial meat ducks mostly use online brooding or three-dimensional cage breeding, meat breeder ducks generally use ground brooding or online brooding.
