Captive rearing of young egg ducks has many advantages, such as relatively stable living environment without external influence, saving labor, reducing labor intensity, improving labor productivity, reducing the incidence of infectious diseases, poisoning and other accidents, and improving the survival rate of ducks. However, it is also necessary to strengthen the management in the process of captive breeding of young egg ducks.

Timing movement

In captivity, young egg ducks are easily overfed due to low activity, affecting egg production in the future. Should drive ducks regularly in the shed every day to do circle exercise, 5-10 minutes at a time, 2-4 times a day. If there is a suitable grazing ground near the duck house, short-distance activities can be carried out regularly.

Exercise courage

Young ducks are timid, and egg breeds are particularly sensitive. Farmers had better make use of feeding, water, grass change and other opportunities to get in touch with ducks in their youth to improve their courage. For example, when feeding, people can stand by to observe the feeding of ducks, let ducks walk around them, and touch them with their hands when there is a "delicate duck" lying still beside them. over time, ducks are not afraid of people. If ducks avoid approaching ducks because they are timid and afraid of people, it will make ducks even more timid. in the future, when strangers approach or the environment changes, it is very easy to panic and cause serious losses.

Steady illumination

Young ducks are required to keep the light time at 8-10 hours a day, which should not be increased before the start of production. However, in order to facilitate the drinking water of ducks at night and prevent the alarm caused by the movement of mice or birds and animals, the house should be illuminated with low light all night. Every 30 square meters of duck house can light a 15-watt light bulb, in the event of a power outage, should immediately light a glass-covered kerosene lamp or horse lamp, must not be delayed. Because ducks, which have been illuminated by low light all night for a long time, once they encounter a dark environment, it is very easy to cause serious alarm and casualties.

Vaccination

The main infectious diseases of young ducks are duck plague and cholera. Both diseases can be prevented by vaccine. the specific immunization procedure is to inject avian cholera vaccine at the age of 60-70 days and 100 days respectively. Duck plague attenuated vaccine was injected into ducks at the age of 70-80 days, once for laying ducks raised for only one year, and once every other year for laying ducks for more than 2 years. Vaccination against duck plague and cholera infections should be completed before ducks give birth.

The living environment of captive ducks is more stable than that of grazing ducks. it is necessary to work and rest regularly according to the living habits of ducks in order to maintain the stability of ducks.
