Natural mating is a breeding method that allows male and female ducks to mate on their own in a watery environment. The mating season is generally from February to June of each year, that is, from the beginning of spring to the end of the Summer Solstice, there are two ways of natural mating.

Large group breeding

Male and female ducks are raised in groups according to a certain proportion, and the size of the group depends on the size of the duck flock and the area of the breeding environment. Generally, ducks are allowed to play and mate on the surface of ponds, rivers and lakes. This method can make every male duck have the opportunity to mate with female duck freely, and the fertilization rate is higher, especially the fertilization rate of grazing ducks is higher, so it is suitable for breeding and production groups. However, it should be noted that when breeding in large groups, the age and physique of male ducks should be similar. Male ducks with poor physique and older age have no competitive ability and are not suitable for breeding in large groups.

Small group breeding

Each male duck and the female duck it is responsible for breeding are raised in a single room, so that each male duck is mated with the prescribed female duck, and each feeding room is provided with a water fence to allow ducks to mate. Both male and female ducks are numbered with foot numbers. each female duck lays eggs in a fixed nest at night, and the breeding eggs are marked with male and female duck foot numbers. This method can identify the parents of ducklings, is suitable for duck breeding, and is a common method in duck farms.
