The yield of laying duck is affected by breed, feed, management technique and age, and there are also great differences among individuals. Therefore, the duck can be identified according to its body shape and appearance.

High yield laying ducks have big protruding eyes, small head, slender neck, long body, wide back, deep chest, full and balanced development and agile action. When holding the duck neck, straighten your feet downward and do not move. Low-yielding duck eyes small not protruding and no spirit, head big neck thick, short body, back, chest narrow, slow action. When holding the duck neck, bend your feet.

After high yield duck is satiated, cervical esophagus expands and droops. This means that there is more food, sufficient nutrients, and high yields. The opposite is true of low yield.

Whether new or older than two years old, feathers are thick and dense before laying. Most of the nutrients absorbed by the duck body after opening and post-production are used to lay eggs, rarely used to grow the body, and the luster of its feathers gradually decreases, becoming messy and dull. If the feathers on its head, neck and back become sparse, it means that it frequently mates with drakes and is also a symbol of high yield. Its abdomen due to squatting laying time is long, feathers dirty and not neat. Low-yielding ducks have ragged feathers before they lay.

In laying period, the belly of high-yield duck is large and soft, the buttocks are plump and drooping but not mopping, the cloaca is large, moist and soft, and it is semi-open. Low-yielding duck abdomen small and hard, cloaca tight and small contraction, wrinkles are relatively dry.

The pubic bones of high-yielding ducks are wide in laying period, soft and elastic, and can accommodate 3~4 fingers. The pubic bone and sternum end are 12~13 cm wide, while the low-yielding duck is less than 10 cm.
