Chinese domestic geese come from Hong goose, while European domestic geese come from grey geese. They grow fast and live longer than other poultry. Adult male geese weigh 10-12 kg and female geese weigh 8-10 kg.

Common species of geese

1. Lion-head goose: lion-head goose is the only large goose species in China, named for the well-developed sarcoma on the forehead and buccal side. The adult male goose weighs 8.85 kg and the female goose 7.86 kg. The age of starting production is 160-180 days, and it is generally controlled at 220-250 days. The average number of laying eggs is 84.6 per year, and the highest is 123. The average egg weight is 135.3 grams, and the eggshell is almost all white.

3. Emden goose: Emden goose is native to Emden city in the western part of the Federal Republic of Germany. The female goose begins to lay about 10 months old. It lays an average of 30 eggs a year, weighs 160 to 200 grams, and has a thick, white eggshell. The goose has a strong nest. The adult male goose weighs 915kg and the female goose weighs 810kg. 4. Simone goose: Simone goose is the largest goose breed in the world. it was domesticated and bred by gray geese at the beginning of the 19th century. it originated in the suburb of Toulouse in the south of France and is mainly distributed in the southwest of France at the age of 305 days. The average egg weight is 170 to 200 grams, and the eggshell is milky white. The male goose has a strong sexual desire, while the female goose does not have strong nest sex. The adult male goose weighs 1214kg and the female goose weighs 910kg. After forced fattening, the average fatty liver weight of each goose can reach more than 1.0 kg, and the maximum fatty liver weight can reach 1.8 kg.
