The identification of male and female pigeons varies according to the growth period of pigeons, which is mainly divided into suckling pigeon stage recognition, child pigeon stage identification and adult pigeon stage identification.

Squab recognition

1. Anal recognition method: after 4-5 days of hatching, the upper edge of the anus of the male pigeon covers the lower edge, slightly protruding, while the female pigeon protrudes the upper edge.

2. Feeding identification method: in the same litter, most of the pigeons who compete to be nurtured by their parents are male pigeons, otherwise they are female pigeons.

3. Behavior recognition method: in the same litter, the male pigeon grows faster, the body size is larger, and the female pigeon grows slowly; when touching the head of the squab pigeon, the male pigeon is sensitive, its feathers are upright, and it is aggressive; on the contrary, it is mostly female pigeon.

Child pigeon identification

1. Look at the appearance: the male pigeon's head is thick, the mouth is big and short, the nose tumor is large and prominent, the tibia is large and thick; the female pigeon is compact, the head is round, the nose tumor is small, the mouth is long and narrow, the neck is thin and soft, and the tibia is short and thin.

2. Grasping: when grasping child pigeons, male pigeons are good at resistance and can make a "goo" sound; female pigeons are more docile.

3, touch: touch the abdominal pelvis, the keel process of the male pigeon is thicker and longer, the distance between the pubis is narrow and tight, the tibia is thick and round, while the female pigeon has a wider distance between the pubic bone (about 4-5 cm), the keel process is slightly shorter, and the tibia is thin and flat.

4. Anal examination: when the anus of the male pigeon is closed, it protrudes outward and is slightly hexagonal when it is opened; when the anus of the female pigeon is closed, it is concave inward and cauliflower when it is opened.

5. Hair: it is observed that the feathers of male pigeons are rich in luster, the tail end of the main wing is pointed, the glossiness of female pigeon feathers is poor, and the tail end of the main wing is blunt.

Adult pigeon identification

1. Male pigeons often chase female pigeons. The neck air bags of male pigeons expand, the neck and back feathers bulge, and the tail feathers spread out like a fan. Female pigeons, on the other hand, are more gentle and frequently accept male pigeon courtship.

2. Due to the courtship and mating of male and female pigeons, the tail feathers of male pigeons are dirty, while the back feathers of female pigeons are dirty.

3. When kissing, the male pigeon opens its mouth, and the female pigeon howls into the male pigeon's mouth. After kissing, the female pigeon naturally squats down and accepts the male pigeon to mate.

4. The incubation time is different. The hatching time of male pigeons is usually 10-16:00 every day, and the female pigeons hatch at other times.
