The formulation of a reasonable feed formula is the key to raising pigeons. Scientific preparation of diets can make full use of feed resources, and reasonable preparation of feed can meet the needs of pigeon growth, reproduction and various activities, so as to maximize feed efficiency and improve feed utilization. At the same time, the combination of a variety of feed raw materials can improve the palatability of feed and give full play to the complementary role of various nutrients, especially amino acids.

Formulation principle

According to the variety, age, use, physiological stage and production level of pigeons, the nutritional requirements of pigeons were determined, the feeding standards were established, and then the feed was selected and matched according to the feeding standards.

In order to control the volume of diet, both nutrition level and food intake should be taken into account. Generally, pigeons consume 30 ~ 60 grams in one day. If the content of crude fiber in the diet is large, it is easy to cause larger volume. When pigeons eat according to the normal amount, nutrition can not meet its needs. Therefore, the content of crude fiber should be controlled within 5%.

A variety of feed combinations, give full play to the complementary role of nutrition to make the diet of high nutritional value and good palatability, improve feed digestibility and production efficiency.

The selection of suitable raw materials requires that the feed raw materials are non-toxic, mildew-free, pollution-free and free of pathogenic microorganisms and parasites. It is necessary to consider the use of local feed resources as far as possible, taking into account the market price of raw materials, and reduce feed costs on the premise of ensuring nutrition.

After keeping the feed relatively stable, the ration should be changed appropriately according to the season, feed resources, feed price, production level, etc., but the change should not be too great, and the relative stability should be maintained. If the variety needs to be changed, we must also consider the gradual transition.

In the diet with grain grain as the main body, we should ensure that the moisture in the diet is less than 11%, crude protein 12% 15%, nitrogen-free extract 65% 70%, crude fat, crude fiber and crude ash 3% each. to ensure that energy feed is 70% 80%, protein feed 25% 30%.

Reference scheme

Feed raw materials are used to feed pigeons in many pigeon farms in China. Several feed formulations are introduced for reference.

Formula 1: Rice accounts for 50%, corn for 20%, wheat for 10%, mung beans and other beans for 20% (for commercial meat pigeons).

Formula 2: corn 40%, peas 30%, rice 20%, wheat 7%, cabbage 3%.

Formula 3: corn 30%, brown rice 20%, barley 10%, sorghum 10%, mung bean 15%, pea 10%, rapeseed 5%.

Formula 4: corn 50%, peas 25%, rice 25%.

Formula 5: corn 30%, brown rice 18%, wheat 10%, sorghum 10%, pea 17%, mung bean 10%, hemp kernel 5%.

Formula 6: corn 35%, peas 26%, mung beans 6%, sorghum 10%, wheat 12%, rice 6%, hemp kernel 5%.

When self-dispensing diets, the dietary coordination should be considered according to the actual situation of local resources, and it should also be considered that the four nutrients of energy, protein, vitamins and minerals meet the needs of each growth stage of meat pigeons. Therefore, the feed formula should be adjusted timely according to the needs of nutrients in each growth stage of meat pigeons, and trace elements, vitamins and inorganic salts should be supplemented timely.

With the rapid development of poultry industry, most poultry breeding uses full-price compound pellet feed. According to the full-price formula feed of pigeons used in Guangdong, Shandong and other places in China, meat pigeons are raised with full-price formula, which is the inevitable trend of intensive development of meat pigeons in the future.
