The temperature has dropped recently, although the meat pigeon has a strong cold resistance, but the low temperature has a great impact on the growth, development and health of squab. Therefore, the meat pigeon breeding to do a good job in winter feeding and management is the key to the development of meat pigeon production.

Protection against cold and warmth is the most important.

Fill the cracks and holes in the walls of the pigeon house to prevent the meat pigeon from being attacked by the cold wind. Seal the front and rear windows with plastic film. At night, you should hang hemp cloth curtains outside the window and wind curtains on the door, which can increase the temperature inside the house. The temperature of the pigeon house must be maintained in the severe winter. Usually, when the pigeon house temperature is above 5 ℃, breeding pigeons can lay eggs, hatch and feed young pigeons as usual. If the temperature is lower than 3 ℃, additional heating facilities should be added.

Improve feed nutrition

When the temperature is low in winter, the energy content in feed is higher than in other seasons.

1. The types of feed should be diversified and the nutrition should be comprehensive. It is necessary to meet not only the nutritional needs of breeding pigeons, but also the nutritional needs of the growth and development of young pigeons. The diet of general breeding pigeons should contain metabolic energy 11.7 MJ / kg ~ 13.4 MJ / kg, crude protein 15%-17%. Feed formula: corn 45%, soybean meal 25%, pellet, sorghum and mixed beans 10% each, adding 10g ~ 15g of poultry multivitamin to 50kg feed, feeding 2 ~ 3 times a day, let meat pigeons drink freely after eating.

2. Supply enough mineral feed. Formula: loess 30%, fine sand 25%, shellfish powder 30%, bone powder, cooked lime, salt 5% each, let meat pigeons eat freely.

Strengthen daily management

1. Keep cleaning the faeces and feathers in pigeon houses and cages. Pigeon droppings are often removed from the nest plate to prevent pigeons from getting sick due to fecal pollution.

2. Keep the air fresh in the house. According to the weather conditions, open the doors and windows for ventilation.

Prevent diseases and prevent large-scale transmission

1. Pigeon houses and eating utensils should be disinfected regularly with 5% Lysol, 3% potassium permanganate or permethrin (as instructed).

2. The temperature difference between day and night in winter is large. Pigeons are easy to catch colds. You should take oxytetracycline and paracetamol. Take 2 tablets of oxytetracycline and 4 tablets of paracetamol each time, and half of the squab, twice a day for 3 ~ 5 days.

3. For the treatment of mycoplasmosis of meat pigeons, 0.02% erythromycin and 0.08% tylosin were used to drink water for 3 to 5 days. 4. If the pigeon is sick, it should be kept in isolation and treated promptly.
