Under the premise of using pellet feed for rabbits at present, how to select forage varieties and cultivate green fodder is also very important. Rational use of green fodder can improve the economic benefits of raising rabbits. Grass-raising rabbits should think more about the selection of forage varieties and reasonable arrangement of planting time.

Selection of forage varieties

The favorite forage grasses of rabbits are Italian ryegrass, winter rye 70, alfalfa, Ixeris angustifolia, hybrid pennisetum, chicory, Rumex Kmurl hybrid acid mold and so on. In addition, sweet potato vines, peanut vines, big root vegetables, carrots, cabbage and green vegetables are also good fodder suitable for feeding rabbits and can be used comprehensively when raising rabbits.

Generally, the annual output of fresh grass per mu is about 5000 kg, and it can raise 110 rabbits all the year round. In order to make the rabbit eat fresh forage grass all the year round, the planting time must be arranged reasonably.

Cultivation methods of forage grass

1. Intercropping perennial forage with annual forage

The hybrid Rumex of chicory and Rumex Kmur1 is a perennial forage, which can grow continuously for 10 years after one planting. The utilization period of fresh grass is from April to November. Generally, seedlings are raised and transplanted in March, and the row spacing is 30 cm × 50 cm. In the middle and late October, we interplanted annual Italian ryegrass or winter ryegrass 70 ryegrass by taking advantage of the bare interrow exposure of the two forage grasses. The utilization period of Italian ryegrass and Dongmu 70 ryegrass is from December to April of the following year. In mid-April, the roots of Italian ryegrass or Dongmu 70 rye were eradicated, and chicory or Rumex Kmur1 hybrid Rumex was allowed to grow alone.

2. Annual forage rotation and annual forage rotation.

Plant Rabdosia angustifolia or hybrid pennisetum in late April, plant Italian ryegrass or winter rye 70 after clearing stubble in mid-September, and then plant Rabdosia angustifolia or hybrid pennisetum after clearing stubble in late April of the following year.

3. Annual forage and crop rotation.

Large root vegetables or carrots can be used instead of Italian ryegrass and Dongmu 70 rye in the second mode. Sweet potatoes can also be used instead of bitter cabbage or hybrid pennisetum in the second mode. However, the cultivation time of sweet potato should be early June, the stubble clearing period should be late October, the sowing time of Italian ryegrass or Dongmu 70 rye should be extended to late October, and the stubble cleaning period should be extended to the first ten days of June of the following year.

Feed rabbits with fresh forage grass, the daily dosage of each rabbit is about 0.75 kg.

In addition, rabbits must be fed concentrate feed once a day, the dosage is about 70 grams per rabbit, corn, wheat and other grains account for 40%, bran 40%, bean cake 15%, fish meal 3%, plus appropriate amount of salt, trace elements and mineral feed, the specific formula should be adjusted according to the needs of different varieties and different growth periods of rabbits. Concentrate should be made into pellet feed according to the formula or crushed and fed with appropriate amount of water. The need for water for rabbits is very urgent, and sufficient water must be supplied to rabbits through equipment such as automatic drinking fountains or water basins.
