Feeding and management of breeding male rabbits

The purpose of breeding male rabbits is mainly for breeding, and to obtain a large number of high-quality offspring. In order to make breeding male rabbits physically strong, well developed, exuberant libido and good semen quality, the practice for many years shows that protein feed accounts for more than 15% of the feed of male rabbits, mineral feed, such as bone powder, stone powder, eggshell powder, etc., account for 2% of the feed, and appropriate amounts of vitamins should be supplemented. Such as high-quality green succulent feed or multivitamins. In addition, male rabbits should not be mated prematurely, and general Rex rabbit breeds should be mated at the age of 7 months. Most of the breeding time is in the early morning or evening in spring and autumn, and when the temperature is high at noon in winter. When mating, the estrus female rabbit should be sent into the male rabbit cage. Breeding male rabbits should be bred no more than twice a day, with an interval of 8 to 10 hours, and a day off for two consecutive mating. If the breeding male rabbit is bred twice a day, the concentrate in the diet should be increased by 30% to 50%, and the animal feed should be appropriately increased, which can improve the semen quality and increase the conception rate.

Feeding and management of breeding female rabbits

The feeding and management of female rabbits is a meticulous and complex work, and there are great differences in the physiological state of adult female rabbits in the three stages of empty pregnancy, pregnancy and lactation. Therefore, in the feeding and management of female rabbits, corresponding measures should be taken according to the characteristics of each stage.

1. Empty pregnant female rabbit: the empty pregnancy period of female rabbit refers to the stage from weaning to re-breeding and conception. Female rabbits in this period, due to the consumption of a lot of feeding during lactation, the physique is generally weak, need to provide adequate nutrients to restore physique. At this time, it is necessary to feed high-quality green fodder and concentrate to promote the female rabbit to ovulate normally as soon as possible, and to breed and conceive again.

2. Pregnant female rabbits: the period from mating pregnancy to delivery is called pregnancy. The female rabbits were examined for pregnancy 10 days after mating. After confirming that the female rabbit is pregnant, it is necessary to strengthen nursing to prevent abortion. The breeder should move gently and steadily, and keep quiet and hygienic in the rabbit house. After pregnancy, female rabbits should provide full-price nutritious feed in feeding and management to ensure the normal growth and development of the fetus. Generally, 500-759 grams of grass are fed every day, and the concentrate increases with the increase of pregnancy days. Female rabbits should be fed with feed with high nutritional value in the later stage of pregnancy, and the amount of concentrate feed should be reduced 3 days before parturition, but more high-quality green feed should be fed. The female rabbit should make the delivery box 3 days before the due date, cover it with soft hay, put the box into the cage, let the female rabbit familiarize herself with the environment and make a nest. Female rabbits need to drink a lot of water after delivery.

3. Lactating female rabbits: the period from delivery to weaning of young rabbits is lactation. In order to maintain life activities and secrete milk, lactating female rabbits consume a lot of nutrients every day. Therefore, lactating rabbits should be fed with high-quality concentrate and green feed with comprehensive nutrition, fresh and high quality, good palatability and easy digestion and absorption. In order to prevent postpartum uterine infection and mastitis in female rabbits, each rabbit was fed with 2 tablets of sulfamethoxazole every day for 3 days.
