The natural giant salamander lives in mountain streams at an altitude of 300 to 800m, which has the characteristics of being afraid of wind, calmness, cleanliness and dirty. the artificial construction of giant salamander culture ponds should be stopped by imitating the natural living conditions of giant salamander.

Water resources requirements

According to the analysis of water samples collected by our institute for many years, it is indicated that the overall requirements for water in giant salamander culture are: adequate water sources, non-toxic and harmful, in line with the fishery water use standards. In terms of water sources, clear, cool and stagnant water such as mountain stream water, reservoir water and groundwater are better, and the water temperature should be strictly controlled within 0: 28 ℃, with 10: 22 ℃ as good; in water quality, rich dissolved oxygen is required, above 3.5mg/L, the PH value is 6.5-7.5. The total hardness, total alkalinity, chloride, sulfate, silicate and ammonia nitrogen in the water can not exceed the standard of fishery water.

Environmental requirements

The environment around the aquaculture pond requires a quiet, cool, fresh air, surrounded by mountains, luxuriant trees, sparsely populated, and absolutely independent environment. In addition, it requires convenient transportation and rich bait resources such as fish, shrimp, crabs or plant offal in other places.

Design and construction of breeding farm

The growth of giant salamander has distinct stages and the process of metamorphosis. The culture pond of artificial breeding giant salamander must be designed and built in stages. The area of the culture pond should depend on the size of the giant salamander, the juvenile pond (within 1 year old of the tadpole stage) is 0.5 square meters, the young salamander pond (1 year old of the young salamander stage) is 1 square meter, the adult salamander pond (2 years old of the adult salamander stage) is 2 square meters, and the parent pond (4 years old and above) is about 5 square meters. The shape of the giant salamander culture pond at each stage is rectangular or oval, and the ratio of length to width is 3:2. Its height requires two to three times the full length of the giant salamander. The pond should be lubricated around and at the bottom. The top should be covered with anti-escape equipment or an anti-escape net. Multiple caves can be designed in the pond to facilitate the giant salamander's shade hiding. Independent drainage and irrigation equipment should be built in each culture pond so that the water level can not be effectively conditioned. It is convenient to discharge pollutants. The whole farm should set up perfect anti-escape, anti-theft and anti-harm equipment for giant salamander.
