I have been engaged in rice field eel culture for nearly ten years. I have some experience about the difference between cage size and materials in rice field eel cage culture. I write here to discuss with you.

In 2003, I learned to raise maggots and raised more than a dozen rice field eel cages. At that time, most of our farmers used six square cages, and I also used six square cages. At that time, the majority of netting was knot-free, and it was relatively cheap, almost all of them used six square cages of knotless netting. There are also some people who use eight square cages, and ten square cages can even be seen in culture ponds. In 2006, the kabu net became popular. Compared with the jointless net, the four corners of the cage are straight, the net is flat, and the cage is neatly arranged in the pond. After a few years of use, it is found that the cage made of this kind of mesh can be easily tied with a thin rope and can continue to be used even if it is bitten by a mouse. There is a big disadvantage. This kind of net is also called seven-stranded cloth net. if, during the breeding process, the water quality in the cage is not good, or if the rice field eel does not take the insect repellent in time, then the rice field eel is uncomfortable in the cage. Some cigarette butt-sized holes will be drilled into the bottom of the cage, and the small rice field eel seedlings will run out. Some cages are even drilled into a whole row of nearly ten small holes.

In 2010, with the gradual increase of profits in Monopterus Albus culture, the scale of culture is getting larger and larger, there are more and more farmers, and the seedlings are becoming more and more expensive, so the requirements for culture cages are getting higher and higher. At this time, a kind of net, called knot net, appeared. This kind of net is a kind of net, and it is a dead knot, so no matter whether the rice field eel is raised well or not, this kind of net will not be drilled out of the hole or run. But this kind of net is too expensive, a six-square net costs about 43 yuan.

In recent years, with the maturity of culture technology, the materials of cages have gradually reached the best standard. In the past, a six-square knot cage weighed more than 3 jin and sold for 43 yuan, but now it is a little thinner, and after it is done, it is about 2 jin and 7 taels, and it will be no problem for more than 5 years. But the selling price dropped to about 36 yuan.

In addition to the size, I have been using 4 square cages since 10 years, and I always feel that 4 square cages are easy to operate. Such as cleaning the box, make a small net bag, the circle is made of steel wire into a circle of 40-50 cm, one hand removes the aquatic plants in the cage, and the other hand can copy out all the sundries at the bottom of the box with this small net bag at once.

There are many farmers around me, including six square cages and four square cages. When picking up ricefield eel, four square cages are much easier than six square cages. The farmers around us all change jobs from ricefield eel. Everyone is willing to set up four square cages.

From the production point of view, in 2012, for example, six square cages put 20 jin seedlings, the general output is about 65 jin, while with four square cages, 13 jin seedlings, the general output is about 46 jin. I always feel that the output of four square cages is a little higher.
