In the south of the Yangtze River basin, the breeding period is from April to August (some hotter areas can breed to September, the spawning peak is from May to June, and the breeding period in the north will be delayed. If the breeders are not sure, the time when the local water temperature is constant above 18 ℃ can be used to determine the time when the local Misgurnus anguillicaudatus can begin to breed. The breeding water temperature is 18 ℃-30 ℃, and the optimum breeding water temperature is 22 ℃-25 ℃. In the north of the Yangtze River or where the air temperature rises slowly, the time of inducing labor can be reasonably arranged according to the local water temperature and weather.

Selection of parent Loach

At present, there are mainly two kinds of Misgurnus anguillicaudatus used for reproduction, one is to select the mature Loach directly from the wild Loach as the parent Loach, and the other is to cultivate or introduce the parent Loach. For these two kinds of Misgurnus anguillicaudatus, the male and female Misgurnus anguillicaudatus with strong physique, good shape, normal body color, no injury and no disease should be selected as parent Loach. The weight of female Loach is 20-40 g and the body length is 15-20CM, while the body weight of male Loach is 10-15 g and the body length is 1-15CM. Although the oversized Loach lays more eggs, the fertilization rate is not very ideal in the natural state.

Male and female identification

Reproductive induction requires a female-to-male ratio of 1. 1. 5-2 identification method: in the same batch of Loach, the individual of the male is smaller, which is generally the same size as the female. Generally speaking, we can judge the sex of individuals whose body length is more than 6CM by their pectoral fins. The pectoral fin of male Loach is long, the end is pointed and upwarped, there is a bone sheet at the base of the second pectoral fin, and there is a pearl star on the fin; when the fish body is still, the sickle shape is shaped; the pectoral fin of the female is short, and the end is blunt and fan-shaped, the second pectoral fin is basically the same length as the third fin, and there is no bone flake and pearl star at the base, and there is a fleshy bulge on both sides of the dorsal fin of the male Loach; the female is not different. In the reproductive season, the abdomen of the female Loach is dilated and soft, slightly bright pink or yellow, and the reproductive pore is large; the male Loach's abdomen is flat and milky semen flows out during extrusion.
