Nearly 100 AED reassuring places in Taichung have been certified.
(Taiwan Business Daily News) Taichung City has set up "automatic extracorporeal cardiac shock defibrillator (AED)" in eight major public places, and 98 operators have further obtained the "AED reassurance place certification", which is also the largest in the country! Vice Mayor Cai Bingkun and Taichung City Health Director Huang Meina issued a certification plaque in the Taiwan Avenue Municipal Building on the morning of the 3rd to encourage 98 operators who have passed the "AED reassurance place certification", representing 70% of their employees to receive CPR and AED training, and the administrator of the site has obtained 220-minute administrator certification, which can further ensure that not only AED but also more professionals can be rescued by the public in the event of an emergency.
Among them, Li Jiarong, an operator in the clear water service area, said that about 4000 to 5000 people go in and out of the rest station every day, and about one or two passengers fall for help in about a month. It was a good risk that AED could save lives at that time, so he and the staff in the store believed that if the station staff would use it in the event of an accident, they would not miss the golden opportunity for rescue.
Vice Mayor Cai Bingkun said that many cities around the world attach great importance to setting up AED, and Taichung City has successfully achieved the goal of setting up AED in eight major public places in the city. At present, there are 968 in the city, with an average of 36 per 100000 people, with the highest popularization rate in the country. This year, operators are further encouraged to pass the "AED reassuring place Certification" with a certification validity period of three years.
Vice Mayor Tsai Bingkun also pointed out that about 20000 people in Taiwan do not have a heartbeat because of heart disease every year, but if AED is given immediately within one minute of cardiac arrest, the survival rate will be as high as 90%. If there is a delay of 1 minute, the survival rate will drop by 7-10%. This highlights the importance of AED, and he encourages more businesses to actively set up AED and participate in the safety certification of the Health Bureau to protect the lives of the people.
