It is often found on the coast of the Yellow Sea and the southern sea. It is easy to find in the rocks of the beach and seaside. Let's take a look at how long the hermit crab can live.

How long can hermit crabs live?

The life span of hermit crabs is generally 2-5 years, but in a good breeding environment, they often live to 20-30 years, and the longest on record has lived for more than 70 years. The lifespan of hermit crabs has a lot to do with the environment. If the ingredients of water are not well prepared, then a few months can be regarded as a long time.

What food does hermit crab eat?

Hermit crabs are scavengers, which means they can accept almost anything they can eat, any feed, fruits and vegetables, rice, dead fish and shrimp. However, the difference between strawberry hermit crabs and ordinary hermit crabs is that they often need to supplement carrots to maintain bright body color. Otherwise, the red will gradually fade. The best source of carotene is a special brightening feed for shrimp or red tropical fish. In addition, they also have the habit of living in groups, so individuals raised alone will not adapt as well as more than one.

Culture environment of hermit crab

1. Temperature: the culture temperature of hermit crabs is not lower than 70 degrees Fahrenheit and not higher than 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Humidity: relative humidity 70%, absolute humidity about 50%, but most humidity meters are relative humidity. Hermit crabs like to be moist, but moist is not equal to muggy, so we must pay attention to ventilation and remember not to seal the feeding box.

3. Cushion materials: cushions are usually made of stone, sand and so on. Hermit crab is a creature that sleeps during the day and comes out at night. It usually hides in the sand and rocks during the day. Let the hermit crab feel safe, otherwise it is likely to commit suicide or self-harm in a state of excitement! The selected cushion materials should be clean and environmentally friendly, and should be disinfected for a few days so that the parasites and some toxic substances inside can be volatilized and killed.

8. Sea water: the water for hermit crabs cannot be tap water. the chemicals in it will kill hermit crabs, preferably sea water. Do not add salt to the water without sea water, because there is iodine in the salt we eat. Iodine is toxic to hermit crabs, and the water should be changed frequently.
