Hermit crabs often nest in the shells of dead mollusks to protect their soft bellies. There are more than 500 species of hermit crabs in the world, most of which live in water and a few on land. Some hermit crabs no longer live in the shell, but develop a crab-like shell, also known as the shell hermit crab, the famous coconut crab is such.

What do hermit crabs eat? Hermit crabs are omnivorous animals. They are called scavengers by the sea. They eat everything from algae and food residues to parasites. For family fish lovers, one or two hermit crabs in the aquarium will play the role of cleaners.

Hermit Crab Recipes

1. Fruits: apples, coconut meat, mango, pear, honeydew melon, pitaya, persimmon, watermelon, banana, peach.

2. Vegetables: carrot (cooked), mousse, white radish (cooked), cabbage, potato, tomato, sweet potato, aquatic grass, spinach.

3. Meat: minced fish, clam meat or shrimp meat, crab fillet (cooked), fish, canned dog food, chicken sausage (dog), chicken bone, sausage (cooked).

4. Others: popcorn, cooked shrimp (with shell), bread, rock salt, rice, biscuits, eggshells, honey, mushrooms, dried fish (for dogs).

Omnivorous food: except acidic foods and dairy products.
