(Taiwan Business Daily News) the population of Donghaili and Xindongli in Longjing District is growing rapidly. Over the past 17 years, residents have actively strived for the establishment of local primary schools. After the merger of counties and cities, they have found land at the junction of Xitun and Longjing, allocating nearly 150 million yuan to build a "Donghai Primary School." in the future, the distance for students to school is only less than 500 meters. The project broke ground yesterday and is expected to recruit students in August next year.

Hu Zhiqiang, mayor of Taichung, said that the county government had planned to build a primary school more than 10 years ago, but it was delayed due to land and financial problems. after the merger of counties and cities, he learned that the Donghai community had a large population of students, but it was very inconvenient to go to school. He immediately decided to build a primary school to meet the needs of studying locally, which is also the first primary school to be born after the merger.

Hu Zhiqiang, mayor of Taichung, points out that the construction of a new school should be able to apply for a subsidy from the Central Ministry of Education, but the Ministry of Education will not be able to provide a subsidy until three years later. "the place has been waiting for too long!" Therefore, the municipal government has allocated nearly NT $150 million to build school buildings that meet the characteristics of the "International Street" and "Art Street" of the Donghai community and become model schools. Taichung City Speaker Lin Shih-chang, legislator Yan Kuanheng, and City Councillor Huang Xijia also thanked Mayor Hu for his full support, so that the long-awaited dreams of local residents for more than a decade could eventually be realized. Speaker Lin also said that in the future, we will actively strive for the surrounding Taiwan Sugar land for the next stage of school expansion.

Huang Zhe-Wei, general director of Donghai Primary School in Taichung City, said that the Donghai Primary School covers an area of about 1.4 hectares and will build classrooms, offices, libraries, runways, and other facilities. It is expected that in August next year, students will be enrolled mainly in Tunghaili, with classes of about 18 to 24. Each class size does not exceed 28, and the first principal is Lin Jia.

Lin Jia, principal of Donghai Primary School in Taichung City, also said that in the future, school management will be integrated into the two local elements of "international education" and "aesthetic literacy," as well as the community resources of "International Street" and "Art Street." the school will develop its highlights on the four main axes of national identity, international literacy, global competitiveness, and global responsibility.
