The black dolphin likes to eat all kinds of weeds and vegetables, such as bristlegrass, bitter herb, Zizania latifolia leaves, wheat seedlings, sesame grass, Reed leaves, alfalfa, cabbage leaves, lettuce, sweet potato vines, watermelon peels and so on.

It is usually fed once every morning and evening, each with about 150 grams per meal. Black dolphins like to be clean and dry, clean and disinfect food grains regularly, do a good job in indoor environmental hygiene at ordinary times, do not feed rotten green materials and moldy food, put an end to the pollution of feed by rats, prevent the sun in summer, and keep warm in winter.

When raised in wire cages, in sub-zero weather, the bottom of the cage should be covered with appropriate amount of straw to keep warm, especially those with dolphins.
