The bamboo rat hole is deep and has many branches, the tunnel bends upward and left and right, hiding in the depths of the bamboo mound, digging the hole alone or pouring water into the hole, it is difficult to drive the bamboo rat out of the hole. Because the bamboo mouse does not have the habit of drinking water, such as forced irrigation, it will force the bamboo rat to drink enough water before running out, so it is difficult to feed even if caught.

The most effective way is to first peel open the loose soil at the mouth of the hole, pile hay at the mouth of the hole, add raw grass and fresh leaves, and throw a few chili peppers into the fire, emit a lot of choking black smoke when burning, and then fan the black smoke into the hole. 2-3 minutes later, the bamboo mouse could not resist the choking black smoke and ran out of the hole. It should be noted that adult wild bamboo rats are very ferocious when they rush out of the hole after being stimulated by smoke, and they bite when they see anyone. If they do not pay attention to the capture method, they are easy to be bitten by it.

When bamboo rats rush out of the hole, they cannot be beaten or pressed with wooden sticks. Instead, they should be caught in sacks or woven bags and put into iron cages, and they should be transported home and domesticated in a litter.
