Scientific construction of breeding ponds

Bamboo mouse, also known as bamboo beaver, there are two kinds of bamboo rat breeding pond, the comprehensive use of breeding effect is good. One is the litter pool, which is divided into the inner pool and the outer pool. The length, width and height of the inner pool are 30 cm, 25 cm and 70 cm respectively, with a cover on the top, which forms the nest of bamboo rats. The length, width and height of the outer pool are 70 cm, 50 cm and 70 cm respectively, which constitute a place for mother rats to feed and exercise. The bottom of the cement board separated by the inner and outer pool is connected by a round hole with a diameter of 12 cm, so that the mother rats can be moved to the litter pool after pregnancy. The other is the breeding pond. The length, width and height are 1.5 meters, 2 meters and 0.7 meters respectively (the area is required to be more than 2 square meters). A 30 cm wide insulation trough is built on one side of the pool, and two holes with a diameter of 12 cm are opened under the partition of the tank, which is connected with the big pond. In addition, a cover plate is added to the insulation tank for bamboo mice to rest inside. Each pond can raise 3 males and 12 females. Practice has proved that although it is possible to breed and reproduce in a small breeding pond with one male and one female (or 2 females), the litter size per litter is not as large as that of group breeding.

Secondary seed selection and repeated mating

First of all, try to choose good individuals when buying seeds. Then, through self-breeding, we selected those offspring who gave birth to more than 4 babies a year and more than 4 babies per birth, and left excellent individuals weaned at the age of 30-35 days and weighing more than 250 grams to breed. Through the second selection, the reproduction rate and litter size of female rats can be increased by more than 80%. There is the best mating time for mother rats after giving birth and after weaning. For the first time, it is called "blood matching". After successful domestication, wild bamboo rats need to reproduce to the third generation. Only when they fully adapt to domestic breeding, blood matching is easy to succeed. Wild rodents that are unskilled or have just been domesticated for the first or second generation should firmly seize the breeding opportunity of their offspring after weaning. After weaning, the female rats are immediately put back to the big pond for group breeding, and the three male rats are allowed to mate with them in turn, so as to achieve the purpose of repeated breeding, and the litter size can be increased by more than 50%.

The proportion of male to female should be appropriate.

It is speculated theoretically that 1 male and 2 female or 3 female is the most suitable. However, practice has proved that this conjecture is wrong under the current technical conditions. Since most breeders do not pair up in the mouse stage, males and females often do not combine temporarily until adulthood. Because bamboo rats have a strong memory, they are not raised by their original spouses in the same group. They often live together for 2 to 3 months before they adapt to each other and mate. After giving birth, the male and female are separated, and it will take some time for the male and female to get used to it after weaning. Therefore, the adaptation time of one male and multiple females is long, which is not conducive to reproduction. Novice breeders with one male and one female can guarantee the birth of 4 and 5 births a year, while those with 2 males and 3 females can only get 2 to 3 births a year, but if they are raised in multiple public and multi-mother groups, they will be able to adapt quickly and the reproduction rate and litter size can be greatly increased.

Carefully protect the fetus and wean at the right time

Bamboo rats often eat their offspring after miscarriage or breast-feeding for 20 days, which is due to the lack of water in the feed. After one month of pregnancy, bamboo mice should be fed with succulent fresh and tender green fodder, 10 days before delivery to their offspring weaned (usually 30-35 days after delivery), and 20 grams of sweet potatoes, sweet potatoes or horseshoes every day. At the same time, bone meal and multivitamins are added to the concentrate.

Meticulous ingredients to ensure nutrition

Every day, we should supply 200 million 250 grams of concentrate and 2 grams of coarse feed. Concentrate (usually full-price chicken feed for meat) 20g to 40g. Mix porridge with concentrate and add some salt and mineral feed additives. 80% of the raw material is required to be fresh. The growth, development and reproduction of bamboo rats will stop if they are fed with dried or moldy coarse materials.

The raw material is abundant, the fresh and tender green material is uninterrupted.

Bamboo rats like to eat plant-based food. Hide in the hole during the day to eat, if the raw material is less, bamboo rats often have a sense of hunger, even if the concentrate is sufficient will also affect reproduction. Therefore, the green coarse material is usually fed before leaving work in the afternoon, and when the nest room is cleaned the next morning, the supply is reasonable only if there is a small amount of remaining fresh green coarse material; if there are only some old bamboo poles that can not be gnawed in the pool (it is for bamboo rats to grind their teeth, the nutritional value is very low), indicating that the green coarse material is insufficient. Fresh and tender green materials are in short supply, bamboo rats do not have enough to eat, and reproduction will stop.

sanitary

Some professional households raise bamboo rats without paying attention to cleanliness and hygiene. Their nests are damp and cold, and bamboo rats can hardly find a dry place to sleep. If it goes on like this, no matter how good the feed is, it will not breed.

The environment is quiet and the temperature is suitable.

Moving, noise, bright light and noise stimulation, man-made disturbance and so on, bamboo rats will stop breeding for a period of time, even if they can, the pregnancy rate is very low. The suitable temperature for bamboo rat breeding is 8-28 ℃. In case of high temperature, appropriate cooling measures can be taken to make it reproduce normally. When the temperature is higher than 35 ℃, comprehensive cooling protection measures should be taken, otherwise the mother will die of thirst, eating offspring or heatstroke. When the temperature is below 5 ℃, the bedding grass in the litter room and heat preservation trough should be added to 10 to 15 centimeters thick, so that the litter can be born in winter to ensure survival.
