Bamboo mouse, also known as Rattus norvegicus, is a special wild animal in the mountain area of southern Hunan. There are three wild species in China: bamboo rat, Chinese bamboo rat and white bamboo mouse, which are mainly distributed in Southeast Asia and East Africa.

Pink skin can be seen through the indumentum. Individual individuals can have spots on the chest, the back of the foot and tail hair are grayish brown, the hair color of the larva is darker than that of the adult, and the whole body is dark gray.

Living habits bamboo rats like to live in a quiet, clean, dry, suitable light, fresh air environment, wild mainly in the mountain slopes and bamboo forests, burrowing underground, is nocturnal animals, gentle temperament, male and female inseparable, the living temperature is-840 ℃, the suitable temperature is 11.7 ℃ 28.5 ℃.

The herbivorous bamboo rat is a herbivore, which feeds on bamboo roots and underground stems (bamboo whips), grass roots and plant seeds and fruits.

The growth regularity of bamboo mice is relatively fast. The young mice grow rapidly from birth to weaning period, and their body weight can reach 0.25kg. After 2 months of artificial feeding, the body weight can reach 1kg and can be sold as commercial mice.

Reproductive habits young bamboo rats can reproduce when they are sexually mature at the age of 4-5 months, giving birth to 5 babies per year, each with 8 babies, more than 10 of them, and the gestation period is about 2 months. after delivery, the female rats mate with male rats at 1236 hours, and the pregnancy rate is 50% and 60%. The last pregnant mice are in estrus again about 45 days after lactation, reproduce on their own, and can not frighten the mother mice when giving birth. What's more, you can't take the young mice by hand, otherwise the mother mice will not feed their young mice and let them starve to death. 25 days after birth, the young mice have opened their eyes and can crawl. In addition to feeding, they can eat the tender roots and stems of plants, and can be fed with artificial feeding.
