Red worm is a bait often used by fishing enthusiasts, but many people do not know what red worm is, there is also a doubt, what is red worm, in fact, red worm is Chironomid larvae, but called red worm usually have Chironomid larvae, Daphnia, water earthworm three kinds, let's take a look!

Daphnia

Daphnia invertebrate arthropod crustacean branchiopoda a class of lower small crustaceans, widely distributed in the world, there are about 400 kinds, referred to as "Daphnia" and "Daphnia", cladocera general term, small body, oval, flat left and right sides, only 1~3 mm long, with 2 shell flaps in vitro, the back of the joint ridge, nutritious, easy to digest, fish, fry food palatable.

tubificidae

Water earthworms, also known as red filaria, red nematode, etc., belong to aquatic oligochaeta among annelids. Their body color is bright red or flesh red or orange yellow. They are generally about 4 cm long and up to 10 cm long. They live in sewage sludge (usually slow flowing black sludge) discharged sewage or wastewater. They are concentrated on the surface of sludge. One end is fixed in the sludge, and the other end extends out of the sludge to vibrate in the water. Once disturbed, they immediately retract into the sludge.

chironomid larvae

Chironomid larvae are one of the main groups of benthos in freshwater waters, and are also the most commonly used live bait for fishing enthusiasts in China. They are widely distributed in various types of water bodies, and their biomass often accounts for 50~90% of the total benthos in waters. They are excellent natural bait for many economic aquatic animals such as fish, shrimp, crab, turtle, etc. There are about 5000 known species of Chironomidae insects in the world, which are similar to common mosquitoes, but the main difference lies in the dense fine hairs on the antennae, just like feathers. Another difference is that its mouth (mouth needle) has been degraded and does not have the function of sucking. So we can say it doesn't bite. Red worms also have the ability to live in relatively oxygen-poor environments. Because it has heme in it, which is why it's red.
