(Taiwan Business News) Premier Jiang Yihua said on June 28 that tourism is the most important industry in Hualien, and that the central government has allocated funds for highway improvement and the renovation of the Jiuqu Dongming Tunnel, which will be completed in August 2015. Recreational use will be provided at that time, which will be helpful to the tourism development of Hualien area to a certain extent.

The investigation of rockfall on the central trans-highway in Hualien and Taroko National Park was attended by Fu Yizhun, head of Hualien County, Ye Kuangshi, Minister of Communications, Zhao Xinghua, Director of the General Administration of Highway, Director Wei Guoyan of the Environmental Protection Department and Minister Chen Weiren of the Ministry of the Interior. The inspection contents include the project along Zhongheng Highway, the protection project of Yanzikou rockfall, the highlight of Taruge culture in Buluo Bay Recreation area, and the related projects of recreation development in small Zhongheng area (connecting Datong Dali Tribe, Taroko Visitor Center, Shakahu Recreation area, Changchun Temple Recreation area), all of which should focus on the long-term development of Hualien and the country. Construction conducive to local recreation development and security, local economic prosperity and social development must be actively implemented, and pay attention to environmental protection, in order to meet the expectations of Hualien villagers.
