Taiwan and Japanese enterprises join hands to develop electric vehicle batteries
(Taiwan Business Daily News) Japan's Sony Energy equipment Company and Taiwan's Likai Electric Power Company signed a memorandum of cooperation on lithium batteries for electric vehicles. The Ministry of Economic Affairs said it is expected to make up for the gap in key components of electric vehicles in Taiwan and speed up the development of the electric vehicle industry.
An official from the Industry Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs said that electric vehicles are one of the key development industries of the government; however, due to the lack of stability of limited batteries, there is always a lack of a foot in the door for development. this time, Sony Energy equipment Company of Japan has taken a fancy to the strength of Likai Electric Power Company and signed a memorandum of cooperation, which is very helpful for Taiwan to establish the core technical capabilities of electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
Officials pointed out that Likai Electric Power Company already has a certain strength in the cathode materials of batteries, and in the future, under the technology transfer of Sony Energy equipment Company of Japan, Likai Electric Power Company will develop the whole battery of electric vehicles to make up for the gap in key components of electric vehicles.
In 2011, the Executive Yuan approved the Taiwan-Japan industrial cooperation bridge plan to strengthen the complementary partnership between Taiwan and Japanese industries, join hands to open up the global market, and create a mutually beneficial and win-win situation. Over the past three years, 150 projects have been under way, with a total amount of NT $22 billion.
