Marigold

Marigold is a head solitary, 5-8 cm in diameter, peduncle tip clavate, involucral bracts 1.8-2 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide, cup-shaped, tip toothed, ligulate flowers yellow or dark orange, 2.9 cm long, tongue Obovate, 1.4 cm long, 1.2 cm wide, base contracted growth claws, tip slightly curved, tubular Corolla yellow, ca. 9 mm, tip 5-toothed.

Marigold achenes linear, base narrowed, black or brown, 8-11 mm long, covered with short puberulent hairs, crown hairs with 1-2 long awn and 2-3 short and obtuse scales. The florescence is from July to September.

Peacock grass

Peacock grass is an annual herb, 30-100 cm tall, with erect stems, usually near basal branches, branches obliquely spreading. Leaves pinnately divided, 2-9 cm long and 1.5-3 cm wide, lobes linear-lanceolate, margin serrate, teeth often long fine awn, base of teeth usually 1 gland.

Peacock grass is a solitary head, 3.5-4 cm in diameter, peduncle 5-6.5 cm long, tip slightly thickened, involucral bracts 1.5 cm long, 0.7 cm wide, long oval, upper with sharp teeth, glandular dots, ligulate flowers golden yellow or orange, with red spots, suborbicular tongue 8-10 mm long, 6-7 mm wide, tip retuse, tubular Corolla yellow, 10-14 mm long, and crown hair. With 5 teeth cleft.

Achenes linear, base narrowed, 8-12 mm long, black, pubescent, crown scaly, 1-2 long Awned, 2-3 short and obtuse. The florescence is from July to September.

The difference between peacock grass and marigold

1. Both malachite and marigold have a special smell and have the same taste. That's why they call it "smelly hibiscus" or "smelly chrysanthemum".
